What is the status of the wifi connection?
What happens when you right-click and choose Repair?
Are you using a proxy server?

Go into the wireless connection properties, cant remember where but then in one of the tabs there'll be an option to let windows manage the connection, as opposed to wifi card/dongle software doing the work.

Do you have any message like:
1- One or more wireless networks have been detected
2- Obtaining an address (and it keeps there)

In the first case you are ok. In the 2nd you might be trying to connect to a safe network - you need a password.

How'd u propose a computer at the instant could have integrated wireless? anyhow is the wireless card an exterior one? Ah! sorry i haven't any journey of abode windows ninety 8 that i bear in mind as i'm 15:(

if so it may be a winsock issue , this is a known issue with wifi connections

turn off windows xp firewall on the laptop
the wifi router has a firewall on by default
