that are connected with same isp and internet speed as one computer, (through wireless routers)

does the internet go 3 times slower than if it would with only 1 computer that is connected

like if the speed was 3 kbps then since we have 3 computers it would be divided by three, and then each computer would have 1 kbps

am i right or am i right

im having an argument with someone about it.lol.
thnx for reading
:)

might be more of an issue with dsl as opposed to cable but it depends in part on your speed to begin with...most often you don't really maximize your bandwidth capability because you're restricted by the upstream on the server your connected to.

for web-surfing you usually load a page within a few seconds so you shouldn't really notice much of a problem...if you're downloading larger files like on a p2p you're still pretty restricted by other users upstream so until you max out your bandwidth you won't notice much difference.

This is true assuming all computers are receiving data at the same time. One thing you can do to minimize any problems is to increase the rwin on each computer. Sometimes with smaller receive windows you get some queued packet build-up in the router that can jam network traffic.

you are wrong and right, it all depends on what each computer is doing, e.g if one is downloading music and the other 2 are just browsing then the one downloading music will take most of the bandwidth, on the other hand if all 3 are downloading from the same site and the same file then the bandwidth should be equal on each machine but in practise what normally happens is one machine will crab most of the bandwidth
