There is a folder on my C Drive that i would like to map to drive Z. In the past i would share that folder and then it would be mappable to a drive. But if i do this then others on my network will be able to see drive z which contains private files. How can i map it without allowing access? I would rather not password protect it.

As an alternative solution, i dont mind people on my network that are in my house to have access but how to i prevent others who find my network and connect up to it from seeing the mapped drive?

I noticed a few times that my WIFI signal dropped when my cell phone rang. The service is Verizon and the phone is an LG 8100vx. Also, just recently, my signal dropped during a phone call on my 5.8 Ghz phone.

Could some frequencies on either end up on the 2.4 Ghz range, such as for synchronizing for example? Thanks.

BTW, I did try all the obvious remedies for wifi interference prior.

I have a 2Wire Modem/Router (HG1000), but don't have the installation CD for it. My PC, through a wireless adaptor, can connect to it - but not to the internet.

My ISP has provided me with a load of details that I apparently need - router gateway, subnet mask - and probably some that I don't need. At any rate, I can see no way of entering these to enable my PC to connect: the control panel network wizards certainly don't seem too sharp at this either.

The frustrating thing is that my PC tells me the wireless connection is excellent, yet I still cannot connect to the net! According to the downloadable user guide, I should be able to enter a URL in my browser that will let me configure my settings; however this only results in the default Internet Explorer 'cannot display this page' message.

Help! It's worth some points...

Following on from my previous question which was about installation of the router my laptop will now not talk wirelessly to it - it is ok if it is attached via an ethernet cable and the router will also talk to my pc via a "dongol" (hope this is the correct term!). I cannot get any joy with the laptop picking it up - it will recognise that the router is there but cannot connect. I have ran a diagnostic on the wireless card and it is running fine. For information the laptop is a dell and the operating system is windows vista. Will the dongol work if i attach it to my laptop? Any advice would be greatly received.

Thankyou

.:.EMERGENCY.:.
(Needed for tomorrow !)

Hey
i have a small (8 client-no server) workgroup.
today i installed a new fresh windows in all systems and i set the same user (administrator) and pass for all of computers.
but whenever i went to use a shared source, i got an access denied message indicate that blank password or account restriction !!
then i create and use a second account with admin privilege and same passowrd, this time by providing authentication, sharing access was success,
i want users to use sharing without providing authentication (user-pass).
in addition users are into habit to use "my network places" - it's hard for them to use \\Name-IP

What Can I Do ...!?

I have been working with Cisco Routers/Switches for a long time but have never sold my services outside of the company i was employed by. I now have an opportunity to do so but i don't know what to charge.

Can anyone let me know what they're charging or being charged for remote cisco Router/PIX/Switch support?

I'm in the northeast if region is a factor.

I have a desktop computer directly connected to it, a desktop computer connected wirelessly, and a laptop computer connnected wirelessly.
