How do i setup a network adapter for PS2?

Question

I already have a network configuration set up and all but i just dont know where i plug the cords in i have an ethernet cable and i have cable internet and when i try to connect to the internet i see a message with connection failed please check your connection and im like wtf ive tried all the combos i just cant figure it out and no i will not but a ******* router so dont say i need one cuz i looked it up and i dont

if you are going to run it directally to the dsl modem then you need to put your ip adress dns dnas and all that info in! if you got a computer allready hooked up then you will need a router! the only way around this is dialup through the phone line!! if you already got a router, then you need to set the ipadress to none, the dns to none, etc..... trust me! i got 3 pc's and a ps2 up to one connection!
