I've seen DSL connections ranging from 0.25mbps to 26mbps, so it varies a LOT.
It also depends on the source, since you can't download faster then they can provide.
You're usually looking at something in the order of 2 hours.

it all depends on the movie size as big is the file as long is the download will be .... its like getting seed or polp stuck in your straw while drinking juice or some thing and as big is the seed as long it will take to take it out ..... my idea for U ,is to switch to better service like cable internet its faster and the only service faster than the cable is the T1 line wich no normal person can afford it if U R not acompany or somthing it cost $750 and up .... so swich to cable internet and most movies will download in 18 sec +/- 5 sec

In all actuality, dial-up is going to be painfully sluggish for loading video clips , music , etc. i'm on dial-up as nicely and that i've got been given too bored with waiting the 30 minutes. or so which you should load one million music (!!) , so i visit attend until i'm getting some thing severe speed going. it is obtainable you will possibly be able to speed your self up somewhat although in case you talked approximately as somebody at yahoo tech help and that they did a "walk with the aid of" with you to reconfigure a number of your modem / browser settings, that would help out somewhat.

for that question
you need to ask
what format the movie ? and xvid encoded AVI ( mpeg 4 basically )
a DVD source movie ( mpeg 2 )
how good is the source where you are downloading from, it is a another person on a p2p network ( torrentw, gnutella.. etc.. )
and finally your connection ( slow dsl like 768k ,fast dsl like 3.0Mps or cable 5.0Mps or FIOS at 15Mps )..

I have NO idea. However, I'd say if I were to download movies for the first time, I'd say about 30 minutes to about an hour MAX.
