hello, i am using a belkin router, and am just wondering, if you can stop certain computers from accessing the internet. No, nobody has hacked it, I was just wondering if it was possible to prevent a computer from accessing the router - wirelessly, if i cannot disable it from the computer itself,

It would be much appreciated if someone could help,

Thanks

Have a desktop with DSL, a Linksys WRT54G wireless Router and 2 laptops(1 connected wirelessly & 1 ethernet). WHEN we are connected it is fine but once or twice a day we get disconnected (although the network connections box says we're connected). If we reset the modems and router it will connect again for a while. Got sick of constantly having to reset connection, re-did installation and now the only way ANY computer can connect is the desktop hooked up DIRECTLY to the DSL modem. None of the puters work if the router is in the mix. Could it be the router? Does Linksys suck or what? Have tried resetting all of them, it works for less than 24 hrs, until today, now nothing when hooked to the router. DSL Co. says all is fine on their end. HELP! If I need to replace wireless router, what is the BEST with fastest connection and easiest set-up! Any realistic ideas appreciated!n Thank you very much!

Hello; I have a problem with my DSL connection. I've had DSL for more than a year now! Just this week, it started getting very slow and I don't know why. I don't think I have ad-ware cause I already scanned for spyware. When I did the scan, it found cookie trackers and I deleted those and my internet is a bit faster but it's still very slow. Is it possible that it has to do with the weather? It rained for a day at where I live and now the weather's really cold.
Also... I recently installed a new phone. Could that be the problem?
I'm using Verizon. I don't think it's broadband though. It's the $14.99 deal. I checked my Network Connections folder and it says that I have a connection for LAN or high-speed internet. When I check the status for Local Area connection on my computer it says that I'm currently connectly and that the speed is 100 Mbps. It doesn't feel like 100 Mbps though, it feels like Dial-Up! Videos take extremely long to load on Youtube.

Okay, they advertize 'Free Wireless Internet, Ask the Front Dest for Details' and I get the paper that has the password and such, then I go, get on and everything but how do I surf the internet? When I open Internet Explorer the connectuins thing pops up asking you to dial up. What do I do?

I've already read the User Guide of my Linksys wireless router, also read the troubleshooting tips. however, I can't find the answer.

Everytime I try to access the web-based utility router setup (192.168.1.1), it directs me to Yahoo search. It really gets frustrating, because what I need is to configure the settings of my router. And to this, I'm supposed to be directed to the Linksys web-based setup.

Please help :(

Ok, so basically i have a laptop in my room at school with a wireless card on it (its mac address has been whitelisted by the central server all legit) and i have a few other computers in my room, now i don't want to use ICS with windows and a crossover cable or anything because i have multiple things i want to have internet access, so what i'm trying to do is patch the internet from my laptop (the whitelisted one) through a WRT54G wireless router, and redistribute it through my wireless devices, so basically im trying to connect two seporate networks together, and use my laptop as a gateway between them, i have been working and tinkering for a bit, and im still working on it, but if you guys have any insight it would be greatly appriciated

Internet--------School Server---------Router in the dorm-------My laptop--------Router in my room------my other wireless devices

Kinda a bad network map, but thats the basic jist of what im trying to do, and of course im using windows xp :)

I have heard there is no need for a router to connect 2 desktops to a cable modem. Can someone please verify this? Or do I HAVE to have a router. BTW...both desktops have ethernet cards. One is my old PC that has WIN-98 and the new one is brand new with WIN-XP.
