Hello; I have a problem with my DSL connection. I've had DSL for more than a year now! Just this week, it started getting very slow and I don't know why. I don't think I have ad-ware cause I already scanned for spyware. When I did the scan, it found cookie trackers and I deleted those and my internet is a bit faster but it's still very slow. Is it possible that it has to do with the weather? It rained for a day at where I live and now the weather's really cold.
Also... I recently installed a new phone. Could that be the problem?
I'm using Verizon. I don't think it's broadband though. It's the $14.99 deal. I checked my Network Connections folder and it says that I have a connection for LAN or high-speed internet. When I check the status for Local Area connection on my computer it says that I'm currently connectly and that the speed is 100 Mbps. It doesn't feel like 100 Mbps though, it feels like Dial-Up! Videos take extremely long to load on Youtube.

In five minutes, it hasn't even loaded 1 minute yet. Firefox is my current browser
I currently use the Westell Versalink Model 327W. Its labeled Power, E1, E2...., Wireless, DSL, and Internet. The light for E1 is rapidly blinking. The lights for Internet and Wireless are also blinking.
Please help! I'm not very good with computers/internet terms. Thanks in advance!

You have DSL, which goes through your phone line. Presumably there is a filter on the line with the new phone? If there is not, it should not slow down your data, but you would get interference on the phone. Your network interface is cabable of 100 Mbps, but DSL doesn't go that fast. Is your antivirus up to date? The usual reason network connections slow way down is because or viruses or spyware. You mentioned you used ad-aware, which is an excellent product. I also use and recommend spybot, which detects over 50,000 bad things in just a few minutes. Try it, it's free, and sometimes finds things that AD-Aware cannot.

Hi, 100 mpbs is only the speed between your computer and your modem / router, not your internet connection speed. Your $14.99 plan provides for a maximum speed of 768 K download and 128K upload.

Go here and test your actual connection speeds to a couple different locations:
http://www.speedtest.net/

You should be getting from 85% to 95% of the 768 /128 rated speed. If you are not, I would contact Verizon as the problem would be on their end.

Good luck.

that's happened to me before and i contacted verizon and they fixed it over the phone. only bad part is, i had to wait a couple days before it got fixed. i dont think it has anything to do with what you're doing and it's something on verizons end and they are the only people that can fix it. good luck.
