hi Guys,

i am trying to design a solution using VPN for the following scenario and can use any help/insight/correction/guidance you can think of.

the company has 2 physically separate locations (loc1 and loc2)
each location has just one LAN currently.

we want to split this LAN into 2 (user pcs and test pcs) for each location.
and we want users in each location to be able to access the test pcs of BOTH locations.

so the proposed solution is the following:
split each lan into 2 physically separate LANs with separate ISP connections (user LAN and test LAN)
create a VPN tunnel between the 2 LANs on each location
create a VPN tunnel between the 2 test LANs

i guess it will look something like this:
loc1 user lan -----vpn----- loc1 test lan -----vpn-----loc2 test lan -----vpn----- loc2 user lan

will this work and is it the best approach?
and how will i prevent loc1 users from accessing shares and stuff on the loc2 user lan and vice versa?
thanks

I have a Orange Broadband package but it always seems to run very slow. just the other day on the bottom right hand side of my screen I noticed 2 symbols the same only one had a red cross over it. When I clicked on to it said "network cable unplugged". As I am pretty new to all this computer stuff, I,m not really sure what this means? I checked the back of my PC and nothing appears to be unplugged, can anyone explain what i should do?

this has probably been asked a million times, but why do ISP's say they provide 1Mbps (for example) connections, if the connection only gets you a max speed of a couple hundred Kbps down and even less up? i might understand it if its DSL, but even with DSL they can cap you if you live close to the office, probably because the ISP is communist. and why is uploading always slower than downloading?

We recently got a wireless router/modem, and we're trying to get the rest of the hardware together. Two of the three computers are closed architecture, so installing a card is out of the question.
