Contact orange broadband about you speed problems, as for the icon on the system tray (Bottom right hand corner of your screen) this is refering to a network card in your pc/laptop that has no connection i.e a network card that is unused! The fact you have internet access still would suggest that you are using another method of connecting i.e a wireless card or another onboard lan card. you can contact orange tech support on the following numbers Broadband Starter Technical Support New!

The two icons in your system tray represent your internet connection. If you still have an internet connection even though the one icon has a red x on it, don't worry about it. It probably just means that you aren't using that LAN adapter for your internet connection.
Your internet connection may be slow for many reasons:
1. The package you're using has a speed-cap on it that is enforced by the internet service provider
2. If you are on cable internet, your traffic can be slowed by network congestion (lots of other folks using the same cable service provider are online as well)
3. You have spyware/adware on your computer. These can slow down your internet traffic as they use up bandwidth reporting your internet activities back to their originator. Get a hold of Adaware SE and scan your computer for infection.
Hope all of this helps!

Check the cable is connected into the back of your computer and to the source if internet (modem/router/other computer)
If you actually still have internet, just that it is slow, then the unplugged network cable may be just an unused network card on your computer

It means you need to reconnect your modem to allow the signal to be properly displayed thats why your pc has displayed the following.
Also aswell you need to check your internet connection the reason why your internet connection may be slow it would depend on the broadband package you are with and the speed of the modem, and the speed of the internet provider you are with...

make sure that your ethernet cable is in the right sockets on both your box and the pc .
on your box you should have it in the red socket and on your pc there should be a socket that only your ethernet cable fits in it's similar to a dial up modem socket.
if this is correct then configure the box from your desktop and away you should go

Try disabling your firewall soft ware, then renew your ip address. If on windows go to start , run type in command, or cmd depending on your operating system, a dos promp box will open, type in ipconfig /release, then ipconfig renew, it should then show your ip configuration. if starts with 192.x.x.x could be internally looping or hooked to router , if 167.x.x.x could be problem with network cable, or network card. if 24.x.x.x or simular, should be working ok.

pls specify what are the specs of your computer. if this lower than pentium 4, expected you can experience that.
if your computer is higher version, try defragging those drives.
