1. I'm using a DLink wireless router to which my desktop is connected via a normal ethernet cable and my Notebook connects wirelessely to the router through a wireless network card.

2. I'm being able to access internet from both my desktop and laptop, concurrently.

3. Also, I'm being able to ping each PC from one-another.

4. The router assigns IP address of both my PC and notebook as
Router IP: 192.168.0.1
Desktop IP: 192.168.0.101
Notebook IP: 192.168.0.100

5 My problem is I cann't get to access one PC from another, using network neighbourhood, to shares files and printer, even though I made sure that the PCs are under the same workgroup.

Any response will be highly appreciated.

The other desktop computer on my wired router has lost its internet for over a month. When I went on my roof to check out the cable that connected it, it was literally chewed up by all the rain, snow and friction. I dont want to purchase another cable because it takes too long to hook it up, plus it costs 70 dollars for 100 ft. I am interesting in buying a USB adapter in order to get an internet connection on my other computer but Im not sure if a USB adapter would work a wired router. Any Ideas. Thank you.

For the past month or so I chose to run my WRT54G Wireless Router with the SSID Disabled, but today I decided to turn off the SSID in order to have somewhat of a more secure network. My problem is that when I go to disable the SSID Brodcasting, no wireless computer can connect to the network, even if the SSID and WEP Key is entered in manually to the machine. The only way in which I can still connect to the router is if I have the PC (i.e. this one) connected to the router via ethernet cable. So now my question is, is there anyway in which I can fix the problem without having to format any machines within the house. Some information that might help with this is below.

Wireless-G 2.4 Ghz 54Mbps w/ 4 Port Switch.
Firmware Version : v4.30.1, HyperWRT 2.1b1 +tofu13c

If anyone believes the firmware is causing this problem and not the PC's in general, then could someone link me to a firmware that offers Site Blocking and if it has it Static DHCP.

Thanks.

All the other people who answered... were stupid as hell.
I have a desktop, netgear wireless router and a nintendo wii. I want to have the wireless for the wii and internet with the desktop. So how to I make it work towards where i can just hook up the DSL router to the wireless then wire the internet to my desktop using the wireless router. I do not want to spend any money.. and I do know I can do it without $$$. Also I want it towards where the wireless router has my username and password towards where i dont have to type this in everytime i turn off my desktop (its annoying). Also i dont give a $h!t about wpa or any of that since i live in a rural area. There ya go.. fix my problem... please. And no dum answers.. please be detailed.

I have one desktop pc with zone alarm and a laptop with wifi connected to a linksys router to share internet. I use the laptop to download many things so It might have a virus. In the other pc I have many important things and I don't want that a hacker that manage to get in my laptop may "go" to the other computer through the laptop. C: is not shared in any of both so I can't see my desktop files from the laptop.

My question is: Can a hacker infect my desktop pc if he already control my laptop?

Many thanks to all of you, Regards from Buenos Aires.
