It sounds as if you need a simple router.

To simplify the scenario, the router becomes the computer, you input your logon protocol, your user name and password (if needed). The router will have at least 4 Ethernet ports to which you can connect multiple computers.

You can also achieve this with a wireless router. If you choose wireless I would suggest a wireless bridge rather than try and install a wireless card in your computer. A bridge requires no software and is transparent to your computer, it connects with an Ethernet patch cord to your existing Ethernet card and it really pretty simple. I have used this configuration for many offices that are located in older buildings.

Just a quick glimpse of one of the Ethernet bridges:

Don't be confused, this is an access point and a bridge, although the product may not be called a bridge, it doesn't mean it is not one. DLink is not the only manufacturer that makes a product like this.

This assumes that you have desktops, if you have notebooks with built in wireless, get a wireless router and go.

Yes, but you need to use a router between the two computers not 2 modems. Then the 2 computers will connect to the router and then pass through to the modem. A wireless router would work great for you (can get one for $20)
Good luck!

You can't have two logons on the same account. You'll have to get a router. Wired or wireless is your choice, but that's the only way.
