If you've already tried to set it up, reset it to its default configuration and try the installation again. That's all I can think of. Also, make sure you got the IP address right, I don't know how Linksys has them set, but that IP address would be wrong if you were setting up a Netgear router, just saying it's a possibility.

One method you can try, is set your network connection to temporarily use a static IP address.
> Click on the Start Menu
> Click My Network Places
> Click View Network Connections located on left-side
> Double-click Local Area Connection
> Click Properties
> Double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
> Select option - Use the following IP Address
> Then set the following configurations:
> > IP address = 192.168.1.100
> > Sunet Mask = 255.255.255.0
> > Gateway = 192.168.1.1
> Click OK
> Click OK again
Clear the address field of that current window, which should be Network Connections, and type 192.168.1.1
Make you desired configuration changes to your router, and when they are completed, be sure to go back to the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and change to Optain an IP adress automatically.
You're done.

Isolate things. Use a cable directly from your computer to the router with no cable to your internet connection.
Now, is the router out of the box new? Or has it been used by someone else before? If someone else used it, you should reset it by depressing the tiny reset button for 30 seconds with the power on. Then try to connect again

Different routers have different configuration IPs. Netgear uses 192.168.1.1 and D-link uses 10.0.0.1
Check under the router , something should be written, like the configuration ip address

It may depend on the OS and Internet settings you are using, even the browser you intend to use to access the router web config page.
1)Check your firewalls (Windows XP/Anti virus)
2)Disable auto find on the url address bar (Firefox and IE do try to help but a error reporting page would probably be better)

TRY 192.168.1.2 it might have changed your routers ip adress to this. Or if that dosent work look in the back of the router and hold down reset. It will restore your router to deaufault settings and then 192.168.1.1 should work.

Double check your default gateway address. You can do this by dropping to a command prompt and typing 'ipconfig /all'. Your default gateway should be the address of your router/gateway, hence the one needed to access the web interface of your router/gateway.

hi,
make sure you put in the http stuff as well as the address, otherwise the browser wants to find out what it is vs going to it.

call Linksys. They can help. You may have to have a India translator. You have a password issue.
