I also have a PC that uses a cable modem for Internet access. Does it matter what wireless router I buy? I made a mistake today not knowing that the laptop already had a wireless card installed, and purchased a wireless router with a smart card that inserts into a laptop. I didn't need it, and my laptop doesn't support those cards. So, I guess I just need a wireless router. Are they all compatible with cable modems? Are they all compatible with wireless network cards in laptops? What should I look for?

I have DSL and an AirLink 101 802.11g wireless router with a 4-port switch. I use it to power two Dell laptops wirelessly (Inspiron & a Latitude), both of which have top of the line internal wireless cards. But the signal gets weak in parts of my house (approx. 1500 sq feet and two stories). I want to expand both the range and signal strength. The problem is that I can't relocate the router to a more central location, it has to stay where it is. Should I switch to a different router to improve this?

Got a question...

My internet connection sucks here at work whenever ive got two people doing the WOW game (world of warcraft), which is throughout most of the day. Im tired of it and canbarely check my emails. Is there a way I can slow the usable bandwidth of a particular IP addresson my wifi network or of my dsl connection? I know I can go into the wifi router and block an IP address, but then they would know its me :) If I could just slow it down somehow. Any tips? Thanks

Ok, I have a desktop computer that connects to a router and I have a laptop that connects via wireless card. I have no problem getting onto the internet, but I can't share my files and printer. I've tried the network wizard and I've tried just going into my connections and enabling file/printer sharing but I still can't get it to work.

My laptop and my wireless transmitter are on opposite sides of the house. Is there some sort of antenna i can buy that will connect with an ethernet cable that i can just plug into my computer? For example, I would put the antenna near the transmitter, and connect that antenna with my laptop via an ethernet cable.

We have a BT Hub in our office in our garden, the signal will reach to my lap top i sit near the window which is fine, but it wont stretch to my daughters desktop at other side of house, so have bought a Belkin range extender....not sure where i'm meant to place it. eg. next to hub or desktop....any advice on setting it all up would be gratefully received. Also to note the desktop in question has an external usb network car installed.

I am using a wireless network for the internet. How come, even though I get a good signal and it connects, I only sometimes get the internet?
Sometimes when I get connected to the network I get the internet for about 30secs then it goes off. I could reconnect again but that's not exactly convenient.

Anyone have any ideas?
