Got a question...

My internet connection sucks here at work whenever ive got two people doing the WOW game (world of warcraft), which is throughout most of the day. Im tired of it and canbarely check my emails. Is there a way I can slow the usable bandwidth of a particular IP addresson my wifi network or of my dsl connection? I know I can go into the wifi router and block an IP address, but then they would know its me :) If I could just slow it down somehow. Any tips? Thanks

Warren, thx.. If I block that port will it shut down their game? Its actually my bro & sis playing and I cant get any work done. I just want to slow them down so I can have some more speed. When I reboot the router, my computer connects to the wifi fast and my internet is fast, until their game figures out it was disconnected and reconnects.

You can if you have a router that supports it. Most don't so unless you have a pretty high end one you might be out of luck.

The other thing that would be fun is to totally block TCP port 3724. I think that the problem would go away without messing up anything else. In fact I am quite sure of it. It would take a while for them to figure that out because it would look like the remote server was down.

I consider the different solutions approximately MAC tackle filtering. yet why no protection coverage? And why do no longer you choose for to hint down the computing device this is ingesting up all the bandwidth? Is that some form of passive aggressive undertaking fixing technique? That computing device could have a pandemic inflicting it to spew a gaggle of rubbish documents. you would be doing all people a choose with the help of monitoring down the offending laptop as quickly as available.

Hi!

It is possible, depending on your router, to decrease the maximum allowable bandwith on a certain IP. Just try and configure it more thoroughly...
Ask some admin for more info. It can be done!

Good luck!
