My laptop and my wireless transmitter are on opposite sides of the house. Is there some sort of antenna i can buy that will connect with an ethernet cable that i can just plug into my computer? For example, I would put the antenna near the transmitter, and connect that antenna with my laptop via an ethernet cable.

If you do that you might aswell just change to a complete wired network.

If not there are systems that allow the electrical sockets in your house to be converted to LAN network hubs. It works (in most cases) alot better than wired networks and definatly better the wireless networks. Visit:

(the above offer low speed version, there are some which are much higher speeds)

What you described is a wireless router. Something you can connect through ethernet with an antenna. That is a router and you can bridge two routers like you said but it kinda defeats the purpose of having wireless when you have wires.

What I suggest is buy a repeater and put it somewhere in between your router and the laptop. The repeater connects to your router wirelessly and then sends the signal on from where it is located. The repeater looks like a big ac adapter.

You should have a wireless G broad band router 2.4 GHz, the two antennas on it should face the direction where your transmitter is at. Mine is a Linksys & works great, & I live in the Everglades. Hope this helps!!!!

Linksys has some range extending antennas or you could setup another WiFi "access point" (not router) between the two that could relay a connection.

Yes, you can get a range extender that will give you a better signal. Linksys makes one, also D-link.
