Motorcycles - October 2007

Hi There I'm oggling a Yamaha TY175. It is a beaut bike and it is a Trials bike (if you do not know what a Trials bike is, please stop here and do not bother answering this).
There is next to no information online about using a bike like this on the road. We know it won't be a highway spectacular, but for daily commuting instead of a scooter, is it ok?
I have never driven one so no clue how these accelerate and what final speed they have. Many of these came originally with lights and were roadworthy.
Would this work for me or are they a total nigntmare on the roead?

I have an 81 yamaha xs850sh, one of the rear shocks failed. I can't find the new one (discontinued). I have to buy an aftermarket set (left and right). What kind of shocks would do the same job? I'm not lokking for high performance, as long as it is new and doing the job i'm fine with it.

I started my lessons today and found it really weird (have been driving cars for 11 years) I have never been on a bike before - has anyone been the same and does it get easier - I want to pass my test before it gets harder in february.

I have a Yamaha YZ125 and the chain adjusting bolts that screw into the aluminium swing arm, have snapped off inside the swing arm?? any suggestions. Please??

I dropped my bike in the water when crossing a small river. The exhaust wasn't submerged but I think water got under the seat (a KDX 200) and into the air box. I managed to push it out the the other side of the river and after much kicking managed to get it started. Quite a bit of water shot out the exhaust and the idling was pretty rough but after riding for a bit it came right again.

Is there anything that may get damaged from any residual water that may be in the system? Should I clean the and reoil the air filter and change the oil in the gearbox? My knowledge of motors is limited (which you can tell) and I am not sure if water can get past the piston rings and end up in the gearbox (like in a 4 stroke). Any help appreciated!

i put a k and n air filter on my 1998 zx9 and its goin like s**t now it is very splutry and wont wind out i left it with a friend of mine 2 see could he fix it its a bit better now but still not rite he said it needs 2 be jetted did anyone hav this problem before and how did u fix it ???????? it has a micron pipe as well

the chain went back into the engine how bad is that? like we took it to the dirt bike shop where they fix it ?
just wondering what are the chances of it coming back alive??
will i have to get a new one i am starting mx soon and i was hoping to use that as it has been race prepped and it was reallyy expensive to do that ????

So I have a 2007 Kawasaki EX250. Started riding today and all of the sudden it just cut off on me, I noticed the RPMS would keep dropping and then go back. It took me a while to start it up back up but it did and I started riding again, well it cut off again and while riding it was smoking, I managed to make it to my friends house.

I wanted to know if anyone knows what could possibly cause this. I didn't want to get the the bike shop tomorrow and it end up being something not covered until the warranty and I get charged all this extra money if it was something on the simple side that someone else could fix.

There is a bolt attaching the belt guard to the lower rear mount on the peg. You would have to have a new bracket to hold the guard to the frame.

it's a suzuki 1983 gs 450, look like she want to start but doesn't, the engine crank but that is all. the sparks, battery and coils are new. I put a fews drops of gasoline into the sparks plugs but still doesn't work, when I check the sparks they are clean and dry.
somebody help me here please any ideas. thanks guys

i have a 1983 honda nighthawk 650. the forks keep leaking. the seals are new. i just put them in. but it keeps dripping oil from the seals. WHY??? I do inflate them (they're air forks). maybe i over inflated them. i used a hand pump. im puzzled. anyone have any ideas? virtually no pits in the fork tubes. i dunno...
