I just bought a 1982 Honda Cb900f with 11k miles for a hundred bucks. I figured I could make the money back and then some just selling it for scrap. But on the other hand the guy claimed it only had a leaky carb, and that it still ran great.
So he threw in a maintenance manual, good-as-new replacement body panels, two extra carb assemblies, plus the carb assembly already on the bike. I know I came out ahead.
But here's the thing; I've always wanted to get into motorcycling, and this bike only cost a hundred bucks, and came with a crapload of replacement parts. So I went to start it dry, no fuel and with the carb laying around, just to see if it'd turn over. It makes this whacky crackling sound from a cylinder next to the battery.
So my question is; where can I learn how to reassemble/fix the carb. What's the crackling sound. And would it help to see a picture of the cyclinder making the sound?

I am from New Mexico and I need to know where I can start buying parts for a Harley. I dont have the money to buy one off the lot, so I decided to bulid my own. My dad and his buddys have been on me for a while to start putting one together, (thats how most of them got started back in the day) and I dont know where to find used parts,or even a non running bike to work with? everywhere I look all I can find is S&S, or some high dollar shiny crap, or new Harley parts. is there a type of swap meet on line or something. twice a year around here there is a bike week that you can buy stuff but I want to start looking now. Thanks for any advise. Im sick of staying home, or being the tail vehicle during runs.

My husband and I were having a pondering session about if a motorcyclist hit a squirrel whet would happen and he said that the squirrel would get squiched and not much else. So then I asked him if a cyclist hit a raccoon and he said that the cyclist would not wipe out and I am convinced that a raccoon would make the bike and the biker flip and completely wipe out. Please help us with this delama (sp). I think that the bike would loos comlete control and either flip wheels over head or wobble uncontrolably, and he says that he would just keep on going. I reference this at speeds of about 45-65 mph.

Im not looking for kits to increase cubes or build a stroker i just want the entire engine completely disassembled. i understand that there wouldnt be a warranty due to the possibility of incorrect assembly etc. im poor and am hoping to save money on bike parts, plus building it would be the best part. Ive looked on the Web but no luck also any brand of harley "clone" would be perfect i have mechanical ability but not the experience to know which parts to buy or what combos work well HELP

I have a Suzuki Katana 600 2005 model. It has not been used in a long time and it will not start. I took the battery out and charged it and put it back in - no response. No lights come on at all. Is the battery toast?

One of my friends recently advised me that old gear oil frm motor bike can be used for polishing the bike.I have tested it on the chrome bits and it sure gives a shine. But i am a bit skeptical that it will ruin the glossy paint finish.
My friend told that it will keep the sun's rays away and the paint will remain glossy for a longer time.

Is it true.

The bike is a 1980 Suzuki GS 750 E model. It will start and idle with the choke pulled all the way out, but when I twist the accelerator it stalls out. Also it wont run or start if the choke isnt pulled all the way out even after it warms up. A friend of mine disassembled the carbs and cleaned them. What I want to know is it possible that it is a firing issue? Maybe the floats are bad? I dont know that much about this sort of thing. Maybe someone out there does. Any suggestions on what I need to check would be much appreciated. I do have a little mechanical know how I just dont know bikes.

I get so worried when I hear that he's going to be riding one, I wasn't at first but then my dad (who used to ride one) told me about the dangers, now he's gone to NC for a week and I'm really worried, I know he'll be riding motor cycles and he JUST got his motorcycle licence, what if something happens to him? I become an absolute wreck whenever I think about it?

Should I ask him to stop riding his motorcycle?
