Motorcycles - October 2007

I can't find a website that sells parts for a 1981 and 1982 Yamaha Maxim 550. I need a front blinker set (with arms) for the 1981 and a front blinker set (with arms) and headlight with a stay for the 1982. Can someone tell me where to get these, and which other years/models are also compatible with the 2 said bikes? I have had zero luck on ebay. Also, how much is a reasonable price for the parts listed?

I really appreciate the help, Thanks from a first time owner/rider.

I ride a 30 minute strip of interstate and backroads pretty much every day ... on one of the backroads when i get off of the interstate there is a small jug handle that used to be for 18 wheelers for a weigh station and the pavement has buckled into a big dirt mound ... sometimes when cars and trucks come tailgating me I pull into this jug handle so they can pass ... the first time I did it I had no idea of the buckle and was riding at it at 50 mph,saw it and knew if I slowed down I would wreck,so I gave it some gas and went over it .... major adreniline rush .... so I do it now and then but recently I have needed to do it to get away from jerks and would like to spot out other "escape ramps" along my route as speeding up may not always get me away from psychos .... can this crack my frame or cause other damage ? Do you ever jump your street bike?

sometimes when i am riding up to my driveway I kill the engine and pull in the clutch and coast into the driveway ..... will this damage the bike ?

I ride an 05 Shadow Spirit 750. I recently purchased a set of 14" ape hangers. I know which risers to purchase. What I need is a list of all other parts I will need to complete the project. What cables, wires or ANYTHING else I will need. I'm trying to do all of this over the internet 10000 miles from home and would like to have everything waiting when I get home from deployment. Any help would be appriciated. Also, if anyone knows for sure what length to order the cables it would be a HUGE help. Thanks!

but she can't start, has gasoline, new sparks, the carburators are clean, the engine crank normally but doesn't start .

well not just bought it, ive had my baby for abt 4 months now...

but, i really dont know that much abt them...like the really technical stuff.

so anyway, in my engineering class, i have to find omething, anything, to improve upon, or invent something to "make life easier"....

i love motorcycles, so i want to do a project abt that....so i need help deciding what to "imporve". what do you guys think? if you could change something, make it better, related to your bike (engine, exhaust, anything) what would it be, and how would you do it...i just want some ideas.....

also, list what bike you have/want and for how long youve been riding, just for fun...

i have a '03 250 ninja...yea, its no gixxer 1000, but im working my way up...lol

I'm 14 1/2 (& a girl..) and I really want to get into motocross. I've done my research and decided that a good bike would be Honda CR85 Expert (since i'd be a beginner..)
we have a mini bike, and my mom doesn't even want me to use that.
whats a good way to convince her? I mean, its a DREAM of mine to do motocross. and i can't do it without her onboard.

Disclaimer; I believe anybody should be able to buy whatever they want and I have nothing against them. Except for use on the track, who needs a bike with so much power? Doing 100 mph wheelies are fun (I guess?) but what else do you do with them? No lame answers such as ( a real rider would know) or (If you don't know, I can't explain). Being fat doesn't count as a reason.

The money is good for me that's why I want to do it but I need an unbiased opinion.

Also any recommendations on getting either the 07 K7 Suzuki GSX-R1000 or another 07 Hayabusa 1300R - what's the main point that would have your decision locked in?

what do u guys think about United Motors motorcycles....i saw on at a dealer, it was 2006 and had 1350 miles on it...i think it was V2S-250R or V2S-250T its 250 cc the dealer is askin $2500...is that a good brand does suzuki makes United Motors......

i want to weather my bare frame on my old benly she ain't so young these days.
What is the best thing i can do to protect my frame from the weather

also the inside of the mudguards what can i use on them to protect them not that i use the bike in the wet or over winter but at times i have been caught out in the rain on her.

I want to haul my harley (900 lbs.) behind my pick up truck and am having a tough time finding a way. I am worried about the strain on the forks and of course the rest of the bike. Is there a reasonably priced solution?
