yes, you can change engines without causing damage or problems with the proper technical expertise. BBR makes alot of conversion kits that are just for this purpose. I have several friends who's wife/girlfriends are on the shorter side and just will not fit on a full size bike... so they go with something along the lines of a KX80/CR80 (or 85/100 large wheel) which has all the top of the line suspension and brakes, but just not enough power to carry a full body weight type person. then they get one of the BBR kits or design their own, fab their parts and install something along the lines of a CRF230 engine in the much smaller frame bike for a race bike for the vertically challenged.
is it worth it??? yes to those that need that type of a ride since nothing is available off the show room floor.
was it a PITA??? yes, but we do what we have to for those we love, right?
but if you are referring to doing it just because you fried an engine, probably not worth the time, cost & effort over merely repairing the existing engine OR selling by parting it out and buying the 4 stroke...
good luck!

Of course it can be done but is it worth the trouble?
A 4 stroke engine with the same power as a 2 stroke is heavier - maybe too heavy for the frame.
You will need new engine mounts as they won't fit. You need a different carburator and a new exhauster (with new mounts).
Most probably you will have to make changes on the chain drive (ratios) as the gear box is different as well.
That's just a basic outline of the changes you'll have to face. Details can be even trickier to solve.

The "particular liquid" is oil. in case you position too a lot in a each day engine you may foul the spark plugs and likely damage the catalytic converter. The 50:50 blend of time-honored and 2-stroke blend might want to be too a lot oil, even though it likely would not provide you with significant issues on one unintended top-up ie in case you take advantage of the incorrect can

With enough money you can turn it into a space shuttle; but is it worth it?
Go buy the 4 stroke.

.This will not damage the bike! Be sure the motor mounts line up properly or build mounts that properly secure the motor
