My bike has a bad battery and it wont hold a charge. I think the bike might have other electrical problems so I dont want to drop $150 on a new battery from the dealer just yet. Is it bad for the charging system to keep using a bad battery by charging it every night?

Also, is there anywhere that sells a battery that will fit my bike? I tried sears, checkers, and walmart and the closest they have is a 12BS which is too tall and may or may not put out the same power. This is a 2004 GSX-R 750 with a 12A-BS battery

Hello everyone,
I am going buy a motorcycle shortly. My question is: should I take the msf course. What is the benefit of it?

First of all, let's talk about money. I checked progressive.com yesterday. If I took the msf course, the insurance is $167/year. Without the msf, it's going be $184. Basically, the difference is $17/year. Since the msf costs $250, it's going to take me more than 10 years to get the money back. So in an economics sense, it's a loss.

About the road test waiver, I don't know about you guys, but here, road tests are free the first two times. And I think I can pass it the first time just by learning from my friends.

So would anyone please tell me why I should take the course?
Thank you,

I need specific details. I can clearly see that it takes 2 quarts of oil, since it is indicated on the oil tank. I also see a drain on the bottom of the crank case as well.

If I drain the tank and the crank/tranny case, how much oil will I need to fill it totally?

Also, how much goes in each location?

Can I just dump it all in the oil tank and it will make its way to the crank/tranny/clutch?

Is there a spot to fill the crank case?

What weight oil have you been using?

Anyone have screenshots or official info/personal experience?

Hello Folks

I bought a old 1990 cr 125, I rebuilt the engine. But its got a nasty bog for a bottom end, Top end is fine. I took the carb apart and discovered the following, remember im not a carb expert.

The Needle clip position was at the very top
1st position, Accoding to the manual

Thinking this was my problem i set it to 4th and i blew a plug.
Stock accoding to my manual is 3rd clip position

The air screw setting had no effect on the performance.
Turn all the out, turn all the way in, middle same thing.
Just bogged

Now after ripping appart the Carb i found the
standard main jet number is 182
Stock accoding to the manual is 168 (Big Difference)

The standard slow jet is 58, Which matches stock.

I dont know how to mesure the float distance,
so i cant tell you what its at

So my question, is 182 jet causing my nightmares ?
Do you have a instructions on how to mesure the float distance ?
Also the Float valve has no number on it so im assuming their all the same ?

645 feet above sea level.
North Bay Ontario Canada,
I googled that with success dont worry i had protection on

I know quite a few bikers in my hometown (and there's a few I don't know). Many of them have had bikes most of their lives and some are recent owners. Now, the one's who own Harleys seem to dress differently (while riding) than the rest. This one in particular, came home from work in his work clothes (car salesman), and went out for a ride on his Harley. But before he left he changed into...not just jeans and a t-shirt, but black boots, leather chaps, do-rag, leather vest. Is this some sort of requirement or what? I've asked these guys this question and their only response is "You wouldn't understand." Well of course I don't understand. That's why I'm asking for someone to explain it to me. Make me understand. I'm not trying to be a smarta**, I honestly want to know. Is their anyone here on Yahoo Answers that can give me an honest answer?

I have a DR350 dirtbike with a lavender frame that I'd like to paint gunmetal grey. The bike runs great and I really don't want to dissassemble if I can help it. What would be the best approach to repainting the frame with the bike still together?

on my gpx250r there is an open hole in the barrel (cylinder casting) on the left side. After a good flogging (ride) small amounts of oil seep from here. The manual and the microfische do not show this, but every second hand engine has it. Is there supposed to be something there?

When starting there is a grinding sound like gears slipping. Starter is fine. Motor will turn over if pushed in gear. There are two allen bolts that were finger tight on the starter clutch. Could it be that those bolts worked loose and thats my problem, or should i investigate further, also is it going to be a pain to go a little further and look at that starter clutch. Please give as much info as you can, thanks

I have a Honda CM200T that after running for a bit from time to time will dump oil from the front left portion of the engine block. Looking at where the oil comes out it looks like a hole that belongs there. I'm guessing it is some sort of pressure relief, but would love to find someone who knows better than I. Thank you, Eric

I swapped out the turn signals on my 04 gsxr 750 yesterday night.

The new signals were coming apart a little so I fixed them with superglue, but I was having a hard time getting the superglue to stick to the plastic for some reason. Long story short, I managed to slightly tear one of the wires in the superglue induced mess that ensued. The signals worked just fine after I hooked them up.

Everything seemed fine so I let the bike sit overnight for 12 hours. When I tried to start up the bike in the morning, the battery was completely dead. The bike wouldn't start, and the headlights didn't even appear to be on.

I am charging the battery right now and I yanked the new signals, but I'm worried there might have been more destruction caused by the signals. Fuses? Can I have some suggestions on what to check next? I've never had an electrical problem before so not sure where to start.
