for a bike with loud pipes (the argument notwithstanding), what would be reasonable for a decibel limit at say...45 mph? if u can hear the bike at 1,600+ feet, is that too loud?

I'm about to buy a 99 R1, and looked up the insurence on it last night. It's 5000 DOLLARS A YEAR! thats the cost of the bike for full coverage. The company was geico, I've heard all state is good, who would you recommend?

I have bought 3 batteries in the past 3 years since my bike keeps ruining them. I don’t know if it's the regulator, alternator or just an electrical problem. I need to know how to determine the problem without having to take it to the shop. Please help!!!

I was thinking of getting a dirt bike for street use as a begginer bike instead of like a 250 ninja, because im too tall for the smaller sportbikes. would learning to ride on the street on a dirt bike be just as good as learning on a samll cc sportbike? also what are some nice dirt bike options that are out there?

What could be the possible causes for this..

The gear lever just does not shift, it moves slightly up and slightly down but seems to be completely jammed and its stuck in one gear.

Ive recently built the bike from the frame up, and i dont have a very indepth knowledge, just the basics, (this my first re-build) And i know that the clutch doesnt disengage properly as when i pull it in while in gear it does not stop the piston. It has oil and everything.

But could the clutch be the sole cause, or is it inside the gearbox? Any suggestions much appreciated.

Question, I keep my bike outside my apartment with only a cover (good branded motorcycle cover btw) and now that cold weather is upon us is it ok to keep it outside? I'm still looking for a garage but if I can't find one what can I do? I mean what are the limits/do's/don'ts. Thanks for your input.

its a gn250 and i have recently noticed this. it doesn't always happen and to be frank i don't use my back brake that much. the fronts three quarters of my stopping power! its like a slow subtle tapping against my foot. its doesn't always happen. maybe just on the down hill. could it be the motor just..um vibrating. I like to be paranoid where my baby is concerned. oh and shes had her first service and is well maintained and all.

I'm storing my motorcycle for the winter and my manual say's to add a teaspoon of oil to my cylinder and ground my spark plug wires while turning over the engine. How do I ground the wires so it doesn't spark?

i dont no why but the other day i cleaned my bike(2004 crf100f) like totaly. took all the plastics off and cleaned every spot with dish soap and emptyed the fuel tank cuz there was stale gas in it but when i stated it up when i was finished puttin it together it backfired alot. i took the baffle out b4 i cleaned it and it didnt backfire. now i bought new gas(premium) and put it in and it doesnt idle right. i cleaned the filter, checed the plug but no matter what it just backfires and dies when i releqase the throttle and it happens whatever choke posistion i put it on but before i cleaned the filter i put the new gas in and it wouldnt start and the i clened the filter and sanded the sprak plug and it still wouldnt work and the i put a little STP gas treatmen and it wouldnt work so i drained the gas tank it it started right up but it was still doin the same thing backfireing and dying. one more thing, it smells like soap when i run it. i really would appreciate you guys help cuz i

I am organising a motorcycle tour around Victoria and Southern NSW Australia, we live in Lake Macquarie, NSW but I need a name for the tour to put on our shirts. For instance earlier this year we rode around Tasmania and that was called the 'Map O' Tassie Tour'
I would like a reference to touring Victora (like something to do with them being Mexicans - south of the border perhaps), it needs to be humorous and short - what ya got?

can some one please explain what tire sizes mean? for example what does 130/70-17 mean? width? height? etc.
the 2007 model was 130/80-16
the new 08 model is 130/70-17
does the new model have a wider rear tire?
Also do you guys think the new 08 will be any faster?
