What could be the possible causes for this..

The gear lever just does not shift, it moves slightly up and slightly down but seems to be completely jammed and its stuck in one gear.

Ive recently built the bike from the frame up, and i dont have a very indepth knowledge, just the basics, (this my first re-build) And i know that the clutch doesnt disengage properly as when i pull it in while in gear it does not stop the piston. It has oil and everything.

But could the clutch be the sole cause, or is it inside the gearbox? Any suggestions much appreciated.

Thanks.

How do you mean clutch? As in worn plates etc. or could it be the cable, as the clutch has been working properly, not so long ago to be fair.

Could be the clutch or a bent gear selector fork - but would suspect the clutch to start with as you know it does not disengage properly.

Most bikes can be "crash boxed" (shifted without the clutch, though not recommended, as it's very hard on the gears/driving dogs/syncro rings, etc).
If you can't shift with the clutch, I'd suspect something wrong with transmission, even though making sure your clutch is adjusted properly won't hurt.

Sometimes when a bike is dropped or dumped, the shaft that connects the external shift lever to the fork that turns the shifting drum gets bent. It then binds up and makes shifting difficult or impossible.

If its stuck and not moving far then it could be a broken fork selector which is a v shaped fork which slides along the gear shaft or it could be badly worn.Thats my experience with motocross.By the way I am a woman.Good luck

get, borrow, download, buy a manual for the bike before you rip into it.

it sounds like a bent selector fork or a clutch issue (is it getting full travel? is there no enough freeplay? wrong oil?)
