i need to know where the overdrive switch that operates this light is located on the motorcycle?
can anyone tell me or point me in the right direction?

I can't say for sure, so don't quote me on this - the overdrive switch is probably incorporated into the neutral light switch.
They both get their signals from the shift drum of the transmission.
The neutral light switch is behind the L crankcase cover.
The bulb might just be loose in the socket, or it's getting ready to burn out.
