Im not looking for kits to increase cubes or build a stroker i just want the entire engine completely disassembled. i understand that there wouldnt be a warranty due to the possibility of incorrect assembly etc. im poor and am hoping to save money on bike parts, plus building it would be the best part. Ive looked on the Web but no luck also any brand of harley "clone" would be perfect i have mechanical ability but not the experience to know which parts to buy or what combos work well HELP

Trying to buy the entire engine as separate new
parts at retail will be about 3x as much as the
new engine.
Try to find a 'totaled` bike with a good engine.
You can rebuild that. Get a shop manual for
the parts and assembly info.

I even have been able to purchase an entire 1450 twin cam for Pennys on the dollar piece via piece on eBay. Many is seems will purchase a clean motorbike and get rid of cylinders, heads, cranks and so on... till now it leaves the showroom and replace with extreme overall performance areas and sell the previous ones for what ever they are able to get. the only section i did no longer yet locate is the engine case.

If you are looking to "Do it on the cheap" keep your eye on eBay, You will be able to find an almost new motor complete for around $1500 for an Evo or around $2000 for a twin cam.
People yank them out and put in aftermarket crate motors and sell the stockers to guys like you.
Get a manual , read it and tear the motor down when you have to.

S&S motors, Harley Davidson, Dennis Kirk, J&P Cycle to name a few. All carry kits and motors. Go over to barnes and noble ( or any bookstore) and read thru the Harley and custom chopper magazines. You will find dozens of places to get what you want.
Good luck

It would cost you way more to buy it in pieces. Also, if you don't have extensive engine work experience, I wouldn't attempt a complete engine build. I built my entire bike from scratch but I didn't even think of buying an incomplete engine. Too much of a hassle and too much can go wrong. Go with a crate motor. You are getting in way over your head.

You can buy a whole engine from Harley. They sell Evos and Twin Cams in different displacements. They are pretty reasonably priced. Call a dealer and ask many keep them in stock.
