HARLEY...at least they have the best resale value...everything else depreciates way faster. They are fun and no one teases you for having a Harley.

If you have never ridden before what I would do is classify bikes in 2 sections.

1. Freeway and highway driving at high speeds 60+ mph
2. Mainly street driving

Ok here goes, I am sure I am going to tick some people off but this is the truth and everybody knows it he he

First of all light bikes and low cc bikes such as the Ninja 250 cc are great for 2. above. Street driving However they suck on the freeway as you get blown all over the place. I am speaking on experience.

So it has to do with what you are using it for. In that case a BMW would be a good bike as they have heated hand grips and a front windshield that raises even higher when you need it...however the cost to maintain is atrocious..that is compared to other bikes.

If someone said money is no option what is the best, then...My choice for both on and off the freeway is the Yahmaha R1 That bmw can't even keep up with it nor is it as nimble in the corners as the R1

Some guys don't like Sport bikes they like all the chrome and the Hogish look of the Harley, my dad is that way..he doesn't like sport bikes so everything is relative to what the person wants.

However if I had to say which bike overall was best on freeway, fun, quality, speed and "never get tired of it-ness" the yahmaha r1 wins hands down.

It's not a motorycle its a piece of art that you can become one with.

Strap yourself in the drivers seat now my brother and experience it by clicking below and blasting your speakers up and I mean up!!

The best all round motorcycle is the BMW R1200. Otherwise known as the BMW Boxer.

BMW R1200GS is the ultimate adventure tourer.
BMW R1200C is the only BMW cruiser.
BMW R1200S is a lightweight sportbike with 122 horsepower. FAST!
BMW R1200RT is the epitome of sport touring, chosen as a police bike in many municipalities including CHP.
BMW R1200R is the most advanced 'naked' bike out there with both Integral ABS and Automatic Stability Control.

The best motorcycle? There's no comparison to the BMW R1200.

I am a big fan of Honda due to their quality and performance but if I had to choose between the two I would pick BMW hands down. I know this will get a few guys riled up a bit because Harley does have a large loyal following but there is no way I would put up with the quality of their bikes. There performance is nonexistent (with the exception of the Vrod) and are prone to need constant maintenance. Both of your choice hold their value exceptionally well (better than Honda although they are quite a bit costlier to get into the game to start with and your actual loss would be comparable) If you are the type of person who enjoys sport cars please do not even consider a Harley and get a BMW or after one year you will be getting a new bike. That's my two cents. Have fun with your new toy.

Yes, as others have said, the "best" motorcycle depends heavily on what it is supposed to be the best at. Some examples include: Best open-class sport bike, best touring bike, lowest maintenance, or even best bike for a given price range. Additionally, there can be sub-classes like best dual-sport for off-road riding. A lot of it is opinion, and some of those opinions are based on numbers which mean nothing where the rubber meets the road.

Ultimately, the "best" bike is going to be the one which meets the bulk of your needs in the best possible way.

Depends on what you're into. Some people who enjoy crusing will probably say Harley. People like me who enjoy the sport bikes might go with Honda CBR, Suzuki GSX-R , Kawasaki ZX-6R, or Yamaha YZF. My personal favorite is the Triumph Daytona 675. It's sexy, and if I remember right, the best sport bike of the year in 2006 by CycleWorld Magazine.

I see this question posted all the time!

There is no such a thing as a best motorcycle!

I find the best motorcycle to be the highest mileage, fast enough to keep up with traffic, and is comfortable.

My thoughts about the best motorcycle are not the same as my neighbor, as it should be.

It is the question that is flawed, it should be what is the best bike for you!

Harley...overall best, but it depends what you want...I would look up the resale of other bikes people said hold resale...Harleys don't depreciate like others...an 88 Harley will cost as much as it did in 88 a 95 as much as it did in 95...some even more than they cost...and insurance is cheaper....rent some bikes to try them befor you buy...it doesn't matter what we think if your riding.
