So I have a 2007 Kawasaki EX250. Started riding today and all of the sudden it just cut off on me, I noticed the RPMS would keep dropping and then go back. It took me a while to start it up back up but it did and I started riding again, well it cut off again and while riding it was smoking, I managed to make it to my friends house.

I wanted to know if anyone knows what could possibly cause this. I didn't want to get the the bike shop tomorrow and it end up being something not covered until the warranty and I get charged all this extra money if it was something on the simple side that someone else could fix.

Empty the fuel tank and fuel line first, then clean the spark plug or replace it. Fill it and make sure you have a good seal on the cap. Clean it and make sure to wipe it off. Lot's of ocean air or debris can kill the fuel if no one has ridden it. Next check the wires for cracks and make sure you're turning the fuel all the way on. If it still doesn't ride well, then it may be the mixture or someone put too big jets in the carbs. Ask your local dealer, he may have sold the bike or has worked on it. Keep the sticky side down....Aloha!

I absolutely agree with easygoing157 -- it's under warranty, even changing fluids or removing a spark plug could make a finicky dealer say the warraty is void.

Just take it in and have them deal with it.

Check the spark plugs.
Incorrect starting procedures will foul the plugs and cause erratic running problems.

Look at the oil through the window. If there is oil in it then its probably covered on warranty. If there is no oil then that could be it.

Do what Guardrailjim said.
Also, make sure your "choke" is in the correct position when you're riding.
