There is a bolt attaching the belt guard to the lower rear mount on the peg. You would have to have a new bracket to hold the guard to the frame.

You're right. That's the same as my '06 FXD35.

While I agree that laws are different depending on locality, I have never heard of a bike failing inspection for having the passenger part removed. A missing guard is a fail, though.

I have not removed the pegs, but the dealer should have your answer. Also unless you change out the seat so it is a solo it might not pass inspection where you live.

laws differ around the country, but in the state of Pennsylvania its illegal to remove the passenger pegs, and if they are removed the bike will not pass its yearly safety inspection
