Maintenance & Repairs - October 2007

Currently my 98 Altima has two different tire sizes. Front 205/45/16 and back 195/55/R16. All four wheel sizes are 16X7JJ. Thinking of putting all four new tires. Please suggest is it possible to put all four same size tires? I don't want to spend too much to chage the wheels. Thanks

my turbo is spoilin up but i am gettin oil in my intercooler and the pipes car runs and drives fine but the smoke is a lot and thick and i looked and the egr tube is not connected and there is a extra line commin of the turbo and i dont know what it is or goes to bec i just bought the car and now it has all of these problums the 2 oil lines of the turbo are hooked up and the wast cate is hooked up but this one hose i am not loosin any antifreez oil i dont know bec it realy isnt disaperin that much and the oil in the intercooler there is a lot in there and the hoses please help me i need to know what is goin on

My 2003 PT Cruiser is running rough...as in periodically it will shake a bit and stall out. It is kept in good repair as I change the oil, etc etc. Is it the spark plugs, bad gas or what? Serious answers from serious car people only please. Thanks!

my husband's mom died and we got her 1999 firebird. we have noticed that it has little tar spots from being driven where they had worked on his mom's road. we would like to know how to safely remove them without hurting the paint job.

my car idles like i am getting on and off of the throttle. Also my temperature reads that the car is overheated even if it has been sitting all night and i start it the next morning the temp hand goes all the way to the max. Im not sure if this is related or not. Either way. Will a new throttle position sensor fix my idle problem? Ill award the points the best answer.

I've recently started having a problem with starting my car. Over a week ago, I tried starting it up, it started but then started hesistating and it eventually died. I restarted it, & it started up no problems. Today, was the same thing but it didnt hesistate the 1st time...it started then died. I restarted, it hesistated like it was gonna die again but i gave it some gas & it then it was fine. What could be causing this problem? It has also hesistated while driving when i'd stop at a light or somthing, it acts as if its gonna die.

i have no means of getting to school or work, execpt mooching off rides from freinds.momentarly.

It is located in the city of Brea, California, United States. Should I go there to get repairs done on my Lexus IS 250, or should I consider another place?

I've heard the dealer makes you pay double the price of a good auto shop, but I'm not too sure about that.

I have a 2001 Saturn SC1 that is having a problem with the tork converter cylinder which is in the transmission I'm told. There are no other problems with the car. I just paid it off and do not want another car note. I am leaning towards getting the trans fixed but was told that I am going to have ongoing problems. On the flip side, I've talked to people who said they have had no problems after getting a transmission replaced. Please Help!!!

It's a miracle she didn't have an accident before it was discovered during a routine maintenance check. Everything has been replaced, but how do we keep it from happening again? The little varmints are everywhere. There is no garage...so that is not an option.

A humane solution would be nice...but whatever works!

This is a pressurized self contained cooling system with a radiator that has no cap. The coolant overflow resevoir has the only cap but I cannot find one either individually or as part of a replacement tank? If you know the supplier URL and part number it would be greatly appreciated.

my boyfriend has a 94 nissan truck 2.4 liter engine. We put a new timing belt guide on it and put the engine back together... now when cranking the engine the oil isn't pumpin into the engine. We cheaked the oil pump and the distributer and its working fine.. any suggestions of what else might be wrong with it because its still not pumpin oil threw the cylinders.

I bought a '91 s-10 blazer, that had 203,000 miles on it. Obviously, the transmission had problems. Well, I ordered a "rebuilt" transmission from Chevrolet, waited a week for it to get here, and bolted it up there. Went in pretty easy, put new seals in the transfer case, corrected shift linkage. But the transmission won't grab seceond, third, or Drive. First gear works fine, and reverse works fine. But when it shifts, there's just nothing there. You can manualy shift from first to second to drive, and it just feels like it's not grabbing. But when you shift back down from drive or second, into first, it'll grab real hard. Anyone have any ideas?
