I've recently started having a problem with starting my car. Over a week ago, I tried starting it up, it started but then started hesistating and it eventually died. I restarted it, & it started up no problems. Today, was the same thing but it didnt hesistate the 1st time...it started then died. I restarted, it hesistated like it was gonna die again but i gave it some gas & it then it was fine. What could be causing this problem? It has also hesistated while driving when i'd stop at a light or somthing, it acts as if its gonna die.

that's not a starter problem,a starter problem would be if you couldn't get it to turn over to start, then you,d have a starter problem, what you have is a running problem, you need to take it and have the computer scanned on it first, just to verify you don't have any trouble codes on it,if it has a check engine light on it will have a trouble code for it,then you need to have the filters checked really good, hesitation is usually tune up related,so anything that has to do with a tune up like spark plugs of filters can cause whats happening to it,even a bad sensor will cause this, but having it scanned should give you a real good starting point with it,then you,ll know more of what to do to repair it,it can even be bad plug wires or a distributor cap also, good luck on it.

Luv,
No matter what is going on with the starter - it won't affect it while it is already running. Your problem starting it sounds like the starter, but maybe it is, maybe not.
Here's the possibilities:
1. You have 2 problems - the starter and something else. The something else is compounding the starter problem.

2. You only have one problem and it's not the starter.

I would start with zeroing in on the something else because it might solve the starting problem as well. You should make sure you have a tuneup, clean gas, clean air filter, and good sparkplugs.

The info you have here is too vague to zero in on what specific engine trouble you might be having. See if you can find any friends that could listen to it and give you an idea, and help you work through the cheap and easy stuff before you take it in and pay someone boo-coo bucks to fix it. This is the kind of thing that could be a 10 dollar repair, or several hundred. If it's 10, you want to know that first.

good luck
Kevin

ps. just read the other answers - I agree totally. Especially about the dirty fuel filter. The other thing you should do right away is run a bottle of stp injector cleaner through with your next fillup.

It does not subject what 12 months the engine is. The problem is that the flywheel and the starter have got to be a matched pair. GM made at the order of 6 distinct starter heads (three aluminum and three forged iron) that might are compatible the truck. You will have got to uncover a mechanic that may get you a matched pair.

Not the etarter, very doubtful it's filter Or any other guessing games. No one even knows what year the vehicle is. I will guess it's '95 or newer. The stalling and hesitation are caused from a defective or stuck idle air control (iac) and / or a faulty throttle position sensor (tps). They are located on or near the throttle body. NEVER replace any part till you know the problem. Get 'em checked out.

Not a starter problem. More likely its fuel related, like a clogged filter or bad fuel pump.
Check your in-line fuel filters first.

definately not a starter problem, you need to start with a good tune-up and air filter and fuel filter and see what happens from there.
