I have a 2001 Saturn SC1 that is having a problem with the tork converter cylinder which is in the transmission I'm told. There are no other problems with the car. I just paid it off and do not want another car note. I am leaning towards getting the trans fixed but was told that I am going to have ongoing problems. On the flip side, I've talked to people who said they have had no problems after getting a transmission replaced. Please Help!!!

If you choose a reputable transmission shop, you should be OK. Try to avoid the chain operating trans shops since they usually just buy rebuilt transmissions from an outside company and then install them. Make sure the shop you chooses is a member of ATRA (American transmission rebuilders association) and that they offer you an ATRA warranty. All ATRA members honor that warranty.

You might also want to consider taking it to a Saturn dealer for an estimate first. Their transmissions usually carry a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty. It will cost you more, but down the road if you're going to sell it, it will be worth more to the new buyer.

I have a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL AWD with 105,000 miles and the CVT transmission needs replaced. The lolwest quote was for $3,700 My question is it more beneficial to just replace the transmission or buy a new car?

why would you still have problems if it can be fixed.

first take it to a different garage, then decide what to do after they inspect it.

a new transmission is alot cheaper than a new car, Seems like they could just replace the torque converter though.

Take it into the trans shop, likely you wont need a rebuild, just a Torque converter...

Keep the car.

Rebuild it yes sometimes cars have problems as they get older but not likely yours will. So get the rebuild and go from there.

If you have the transmission repaired, why would you still have probelms with it? if the person saying they can repair it tells you that you will still have problems, turn and RUN the other way.
