I have been told that if you start using synthetic lube oil, you must continue. Going back to regular oil will damage the engine. That does not make sense to me.

I've been looking around on here and my view of a "governor" has completely changed. i thought it was a piece of you car that you removed from the engine or something to keep it from going past a certain speed. but now it looks like its part of a computer. so how does it work and is there a way to remove it without going out and buying a tool or computer piece?

I realize this question has been asked a million times before, but none of the questions matched my exact problem. I have a 2003 Highlander 2 WD that I replaced the front pads on two months ago. Just the other day, the brakes started squeaking. Assuming it was the back brakes squeaking, even though it kind of sounded like it came from the front, I changed the rear pads. Well...its still squeaking. It ONLY squeaks when I am driving around 50 MPH and I apply the brakes relatively hard. Once it reaches about 40, decelerating to 30, there is typically a loud squeal. However, that is the only time it does it. It never does it any other time. After 30 MPH the squeal stops and there is no more noise. I just wanted possible suggestions as to what might be causing this sporadic behavior. I am pulling the tires off again tomorrow to make sure everything is all greased and clean. But in case I am not thinking of something, I would be much appreciative to get your feedback. Thanks!

Does anything have to be changed besides the motor? Any special pressure switches or valves and if so, where can they be bought?

The only thing that has a light is the cars red alarm light. It came back on after I turned the cars lights off for a while. Do you think if I left a jumper battery hooked up to it for a little while it would start or is it a goner?

in my '97 grand prix-the blower works on all speeds, only when the car is started with the automatic start, however when the car is started manually(turning the key)- it only works on high, is this a ground problem?

I'm curious because I'd rather be on the safe side and not be stranded.
It seems when the power gets low, the headlights seem dimmer. But that's just my theory.
Thanks!

I was using 10w40 in it for the last two oil change. Manual said to use 5w30. What should I use with a car that has 130k miles on it. Synthetic oil 10w30 or 10w40? Regular oil? Synthetic blend? Oh yeah I just had new valve stem seals done. I live in California. Thanks

My car frame is rusted, and when we go to jack it up with the floor jack it sounds like it's going to break the frame. Should we continue to jack up the car, or should I even be driving this car?

Bought a pick-up with 6 cylinder engine and disapointed with gas mileage of 13 MPG. I just discovered that the first owner replaced the stock tires of 245-15-17 with 275-15-17.
So, im thinking this must affect the odometer as im traveling farther on each revolution of the wheel then the odometer thinks it is or is calibrated for. could i calculate the percentage gain of 275 over 245 and apply that to the mileage to arrive at the correct mileage? Was thinking i could go drive a highway with mileage markers and check it that way, but i never find the time. What do you think?

The light came on, I took it to AutoZone, and they read the code and said it was Evaporative Emissions. The gas cap had small cracks in the gasket where it seats, so I bought a new one and replaced it. They guy at AutoZone and the owners manual said the light should go off in a few days after about 10 starts. It didn't, so I went to a repair shop. The shop said the light wouldn't go out on its own, and suggested I save myself their diagnostic charge and go back to AutoZone and have it reset. If it stays off good, if not the problem wasn't the gas cap and I should bring it back to the repair shop. So who is right?

What happens if I accidentally put 15w 50 instead of the recommended 10w 40 into my vauxhall corsa?

I was using 15w 40 (as this was all I could get and so I was already NOT using the recommended oil) for the past year but accidentally put in the wrong oil today.

What will happen to my car which had 15w 40 in but now has 15w 50?
