I just got new car registration plates (legal with the euro symbol and GB).

However I can't get the old plates off..... theres 2 domed caps on the side of each plate (presumably with screws underneath) which seem very reluctant to come off with a flatbladed screwdriver.

Also my new plates don't have holes in them for fitting.... do I have to drill in the acrylic plate myself?

Thanks.

I have a 1990 model car. I always take note of the temperature gauge before stopping the engine from a long drive, but as soon as i switch on the ignition key (without starting the engine), like after a minute or two, i notice that the gauge reads a lot higher than when i previously switched the engine off. I am at a loss because a friend told me, that as soon as you stop the engine the tendency is that the engine will immediately cool down. And that there is no way that the reading should go "up" , even when you turn the key on without starting the engine.
Should this really happen or do i have to buy a new set of temperature gauge?

The leak started yesterday. I cannot see exactly where the leak is coming from however the coolant is running down right beside the water pump. I just cannot see where it is.

The fuse for my power windows blows out every two days or so. I'm replacing it with the correct amount of amps, it says right on the chart under the cover of the fuse box. This is the only fuse that I've had trouble with, a couple other fuses blow out a while back, but they were replaced and they are still fine, just this stupid power window fuse. GRRRR! What else could be causing the fuse to keep blowing?

I have a 1996 Camry, V6 XLE with about 175k miles on the clock. Recently when I started the car in the morning to go to work, the starter worked but it kept 'clicking' as the engine started. I was concerned so I turned the engine off, but the starter was still 'clicking'. I had to take the key out of the ignition and disconnect the battery for the 'clicking' to stop. I recently bought a replacement starter, but I am wondering the cause of this problem as well as if there are any additional parts I may need to purchase to fix this problem. My boyfriend (an amateur mechanic) keeps telling me that I need to buy a new ignition switch or an igntition lock column. Every mechanic I have talked to over the phone says that I need a new starter, but I am not sure who to believe. Any ideas??

I have an 85 Chevy Blazer and while I was driving back from work today my turn signals stopped working. The arrows on the dash don't light up either. The fuse didn't blow and none of the lights are burned out. But here is the strangest part, when I hit my hazard button, they all light up, the turn signals and the arrows. I am quite confused and any help would be great.

I have an 02 Cavalier and it won't start or even turn over. I had this problem a while ago and I had the Battery connectors replaced, things seemed to be good after that. I now went to start my car and I get nothing, I have no lights or power at all but my dash indicators have stayed on and a few numbers on my mileage are still lighted. Do you think it is my battery or what else could it be?

What parts would I need to build a LSX 9.800" with 1000hp with or without forced induction and how much would it cost? Should I go with 500+ ci and super/turbo charger with low boost or 427 ci and a super/turbo charger at a much higher boost since the walls will be thicker or just bore it out and not use a charger?

I have a humvee that WAS overheating. It would sound like it was sucking in air through somewhere. I did a pressure test on the radiator cap and it only held 7lbs of pressure. I changed the cap and removed the thermostat. Now it's not overheating, but it is still sucking air. The problem is, when it starts to heat up (not overheat), it spits out coolant through the over flow tube. Then runs out of coolant/water, then overheats. Can anybody help me with this problem?

I know this is a stupid girly question......

I got a flat tire the other day so i put the spare tire on and drove it for a few days about 50-60 miles. I've heard that a spare tire is only good for about that many miles.....is that true?

And after i got a new tire i just put the spare back in my trunk....does that mean i can't use it again if i got another flat tire at some point??

my car is an 89 mercury topaz and has 240,000 miles on it.
while my car was in the motion of driving as it went up the hill, the battery failed. BUT I put in a new battery and while I tried to accelerate, the scale on MPH would not rise and still it would halt as if it was the battery. What could be causing this?
