Touch a spot above/below the gear on a grinder.
- Long sparks → Steel Gear
- Short fine sparks → Cast Gear

hi, take a small peice of steel and hit it softly against the gear, if it makes a high pitched pinging sound its steel, if it makes more of a low pitched clunk sound its cast
