My car is a 89 Ford Crown Victoria LTD.....the a/c blows cold when on but when Im at idle it warms up a little and then tends to turn my car off.

1 Your Fan clutch is not pulling enough air thru the ac Condensor and the Radiator when you are at idle.
2 You car's idle speed is to low when you turn your ac on
check your Idle air valve and you throttle body for dirt , check to see if your TPS is working.

The idle speed might be set a little too low.

It might also be the idle compensator. There's a little device that raises the idle speed when the A/C compressor's engaged to keep the engine from stalling.

other then the stalling with a/c on does the crown vic run ok? Has it been any trouble? Might just need a good tune up.

The only thing i could think of that controls this is the idle air control valve now it could have other problems but thats all i could think of

BECAUSE IT'S A FORD! sounds like a overheating problem.
