Turn the heater on high with a real hot engine. Then feel of the two heater hoses at the passenger side firewall. If the input hose is real hot, but the output hose that returns from the heater core to the engine is much colder, you have a blocked (clogged) heater core that needs replacing. If both hoses are equally hot, then your air blend doors and fan operation are suspect under the dash, assuming you've checked the engine coolant temperature and found it to be about 200 degrees or so.

It's not good to idle the car, and you should drive away right after the car is started. The cars are designed to do that with computer controls. http://www.autozone.com should show you where your PCV valve is located when you look up the part on their website for your car.

If your fan is working, but no heat is coming out, this is typically because your thermostat is stuck in the open position or your heater core is clogged.

you say the heater is not working but you give no details. is the fan not working? is there no heat coming out of the vents if the fan is working?
