I left all four windows down the other night b/c naturally in Arkansas we weren't expecting rain. All of sudden at some point in the night it comes a down pour. There was about three inches of standing water in my back floor boards. I need to know if there is anything that can help absorb the water before it mildews other than using just a shop vac to suck it up. Something that walmart or a local automotive shop sells would be great! Thanks!

I am OCD about tire pressure. My gauge is a good one, but I would like to compare it to some sort of proven standard. So if my gauge reads "33 pounds" and the standard shows 35 pounds, I'll know to add 2 pounds to my gauge's readings.

Okay, I have a 1998 Plymouth Neon...I bought it for like 800 bucks...which I think was a really good deal. Anyway, we just got a new rack and pinion put in it, because it was leaking power steering fluid horribly. But now, if we turn the wheel a certain way you can hear this sort of creaking sound...like somebody walking on a creaky floor. There are no apparent problems with the steering or drivability that I can tell...just that noise. What do you think it could be? Also, when we first start the car and use the brakes, they will make a screeching noise. But after we've been driving it for a few minutes, it goes away. We've checked the pads and shoes and everything is fine with that. What are your opinions on what these things could be?

The seam came apart from the zipper and the plastic is sagging now. Is it cheaper to have that repaired or replace the whole top?

Car blowing blue Smoke?
My car was blowing blue smoke after long idling at lights etc. I got my valve seals replaced about 3-4 weeks ago.

Since it has reduced incredibly (used to do it several times a day), but every now and then (maybe once a week) it will still do it at long idling. Is this residue? It's a Hyundai Excel with 160'000 kms on it and it drives really well.

Don't know if this helps but The oil level has not lowered in months? And it is only after a long idle and a massive rev, never constant... I just find it hard (or sad) to believe its on its way out when It drives so beautifully!

I have a 98 Pontiac Sunfire that is having major cooling problems...Ive had the water pump replaced, the thermostat replaced and the radiator flushed and it still heats up really fast. Any ideas? Someone said the mechanic used the wrong coolant and messed my car up (my car's radiator cap says to use Dex-Cool only and the mechanic used regular coolant) but can that really mess things up that bad by not using the right stuff?

Ok, I just bought this car. It has 118,000 miles. I've been driving it everyday since I bought it, but this weekend I left town and didn't use it for about 72 hours. Then when I tried to start it I just heard the click of the starter, but it wouldn't start the engine. I used my jumper box to start it, and had no problems the rest of the day. However, this morning I got in it and it did the same thing.

Does this just sound like the battery is going out on me? I don't know how old it is or if its ever been changed.
Could it be the relay?

most cars have computers that tell how much oil life you have left or just plainly to change oil when light goes on. Isn't this a great waste of $ and oil?

The car has never overheated.
Heat works fine @ low speeds(0-40), but @ high speeds(40-70) the temp gage Drops. and heat is lost. You can actually watch the tem gage drop.

During the Summer it's not a problem, I maintains a constant temp. but during the winter is when the car has problems.

Before anyone says replace the Thermostat That was the first thing done.

Everyone I have asked looks at me like im an idiot. I have no clue of what to start with to fix the problem

The mechanic said something along the lines of the Inner seal is breaking into the boot. I wish I knew more about cars but I just know the basics.

In any event, that seems like $800 is a little early for this to be happening? Do I just eat it and pay for it or should I seek further advice?

I have to get a jump start every morning for it to work. After the jumpstart, the car works well through out the whole day. Unless I turn the car off and put my emergency lights on, then I need a Jumpstart again. I cleaned the connectors with hot water yesterday to clean off all the white acid on it, and it still did the same thing. Do I need a new battery? or is it the alternator or something else?

yesterday my cars battery was steaming and smelling like eggs. the inside was boiling. before all this happened i could not leave the car sitting for longer than 30 minutes without having to jumpstart it again. 3 months ago i took it to auto zone to get it checked and it came back as a bad battery. one person told me that it might be the altenator charging it to much if it was boiling. i need some help can someone tell me what might be the problem........
