Basically a German made Ford. The Merkur Scropio was once a best selling car in Europe, but not so the XR4ti, called the Sierra over there. I had a 87 back in 1996 (?). It was fast and fun to drive, but never ran right. Problems with the cooling, injectors and turbo kept it from being a really fun car for me. Now that the car is 20 yrs old I would strongly recommend not getting one. It was hard to get parts for it 10 yrs ago, can you imagine what it's like to get parts for it now? And you will need some thats almost certain. An Acura Integra is much more dependable, though maybe not as unique.

Actually...yes. Imported from Germany they were fast, quiet and handled well. BUT -- now that they are an orphan car the replacement parts are even more overpriced that before, trained techs are hard to find and, face it, it's a twenty year old car and things are going to be worn or wearing out fast. Unless you just like the odd and off-beat kind of car it could turn out to be a money pit.

"upload a DOHC Volvo head and track the advance to 20-5 or 30 lbs and you need to turn in some 10 2d time slips!" in common terms follow that suggestion in case you relatively, extremely like rebuilding engines and trannies. Sorry to assert, yet at the same time as the xr4ti is far greater thrilling in my e book than a fashionable corvette or stang ( and that i like the quirky 80's rally styling greater advantageous than i like the bloated seem of recent automobiles), it would likely be thoroughly embarrassed by utilising one on the drag-strip, even although i may well be curious to work out the way it dealt with with the superb set up.

Junk car, have worked on many of them and the parts are expensive and hard to find, dont buy it unless its a steal.

Never had one or worked on one. I have heard that they had problems and were tough to keep running right. When they did run, they ran very well and were pretty quick. I think I would stay away from them now.

good luck on whatever you decide.

A close friend had one. It was a money pit and he got rid of it pretty quickly.
