Fuel! Most gas sold in the US is crap and the octane rating is much lower than stated. Be sure to use a fuel treatment in your gastank about once a month. Always do a full tuneup every year, things like spark plugs, fuel filters, belts are checked over and replace if needed, this prevents big repair bills in the longrun and breaking down in the short. Wash it religiously, and by wash I mean the body, under the frame and wheel wells, door jams, even the engine. Do not modify your cars engine except maybe a high performance chip, air intake, or exhaust system.

a big thing that most people overlooking is actually dleaning the engine itself...cleaning the engine with a damp towel will go so far as far as preserving your engine and it will also help the resale value of your car because the first thing people look at when selling a car is the engine and if your engine looks clean they will just assume that the car is in good condition but make sure you clean the engine and if you want buff it too
