Maintenance & Repairs - September 2007

Hi, I have a 95M, 1.2 Vauxhall Corsa. It suffers from an odd problem. After its rained, or if theres been a lot of fog / frost during the night, the car hesitates to start. The crank turns fine, and it does start eventually. Its difficult for dealers to diagnose, since after driving to a dealer, and hence warming the engine, the problem temporarily disapears. The engine does not output any error codes. Any ideas? Thanks.

I have a puegeot 106 Diesel, which is about 7 years old. For the past few weeks I've noticed a kind of clunking noise when I steer left and right (even when I'm stationary) and even with the engine turned off.

Also, for the past couple of weeks sometimes when I brake there is a grinding noise that seems to be coming from the wheel area, particularly if I'm braking when I'm turning left (this is what's really concerning me). I don't always get the braking noise but the clunking noise is there every time I use the car.

I know I'm absolutely pathetic and I should have taken it to a garage by now. I need my car for work though, so I need to know roughly how long I'm looking at it being off the road so that I can book some time off work to get it sorted. Are we talking a a few hours or days?

I just recently purchased a used 1997 Kawasaki KLX300R. This is my first bike so im not too familiar with it. When riding this bike it seems to heat up fairly quickly and I can feel the heat radiating upwards towards my crotch. Since there is no thermostat(or maybe I just can't find it) I am unable to confirm if it is overheating or if this is just normal operating temperature. I was told from the previous owner that several racing parts were fitted such as a Mikuni carb and an FMF Q arrestor. What are some of the symptoms I should be looking for that would indicate that my bike is starting to overheat?

got out of the car and noticed water from street to driveway and hissing under the hood, coolant was coming from the overflow tank. I let the car cool off for the remainder of the day and went out in the evening and found the overfow tank still full and looked in the radiator and saw nothing. My husband filled the radiator to the top with water the night before all this happened, is that what caused the car to start overheating and why is the coolant not flowing back into the radiator now from the overflow tank? Thanks in advance.

I have a 2003 Jaguar X-Type. The other day when i was turning it off the key broke off in the ignition, I know, I should have a spare, but I don't.
In order to get it to the dealer, which the closest jag dealer is 2 hours away I would have to tow it on a flat bed, buy a key, and pay to have it programmed. This might cost $1500 or more.
I am pretty handy and was able to rig the key with a piece of metal tubing to get it to turn in the ignition, but not to start.
The key is not a normal key either. It is on a switchblade remote. The key itself is not typical either, it is cylindrical, not flat.
I am going through a separation and at the moment both me and my wife are unemployed. I honestly cannot afford to pay $1500 to get this fixed.
Is there a way to program this myself? Is there a way to rig this to at least get it to the dealer without towing? Is there a way to turn off the anti-theft?
I am really in a serious bind with this. PLEASE HELP

My car rattles when I drive it. I really cant tell if its coming from below the car ( i.e.. Cats substrates) .. or the front of the car... maybe timing belt? I hear it when I accelerate- its a sporatic sound. I have a video of the sound while it's happening, Here:
http://s195.photobucket.com/albums/z261/mikemd21/?action=view¤t=db0b59d7.flv

Ive only found 2 possible answers. The Cat Substrates falling apart, or perhaps a worn timing belt? .. Can someone give me a way, besides taking it to the mechanic that I could test these on my own?
Or if you have any other possible alternatives to the problem, that would really help. Please email at mikemd21 at yahoo if you would like to speak with me directly- I'll get RIGHT back to you. I really appreciate your help in advanced

Suddenly, overnight, my remote car key fob won't lock my car when it's parked outside my house. It works perfectly when the car is about 100yds down the road. Is this because someone has installed some sort of frequency blocker to stop anyone from using their wireless broadband? Do I have to get my car/key re-progammed? What an inconvenience, if so !
Sorry this is probably more than one question but I would be grateful if someone could advise if they know what's going on.
Thank you for sensible answers.

Based on the answers I got, i have checked and found that there are no leaks, the oil looks congealed. How much would it cost to get a head gasket changed? I am now certain that water is leaking into the engine.
