With the very little information provided my first suspicion would be ignition related. Fuel pumps will occasionally do this but as a rule they usually show up as a no start rather than an on road failure. Crank or cam position sensor would be the first place I would suspect. Check for spark immediatly if it quits and it will help to diagnose.

There are many things that could cause it.

Fuel filter...loose wire...air leak at carburetor...coil breakdown.

Get under the hood and check it out with a car buddy.

Yes, possibly your fuel pump needs replacing or you have dirt or some other blockage in your fuel line. Probably best to check your leads too.
