I just put a new battery in my car. When I attempt to start the car, it has power and will start but when I let go of the key it stalls. There is still power, as my lights and interior lights still work.

Well I'm looking to get some new tires for my 2002 Camry with 16" non stock rims. I need to get them ASAP. What brand would you recommend for everyday commuting (and I'm not looking to spend a ridiculous amount.) I know different brands make all different tires but in general what's the best way to go? Is it worth paying that extra $30 per tire to move up to the big brands such as goodyear and michellin. Any advice would be appreciated. Also, are there any offbrands that are high quality? Maybe something made by one of the big brands but sold as another.

Hey Guys

There is a constant noise coming from my car (99 corolla) when I accelerate. It gets louder as push the gas peddle (even if I do it parked). Folks on Yahoo Answers have come up with couple of suggestions already about what might be wrong. Obviously the car needs an inspection by a mechanic. I live in cupertino, ca area. Any suggestion which is the best car repair shop around? Appriciate any help.

Thanks

I have a 2002 ford e350 5.4L that wont start. Prior to the problem, the driver said he heard knocking coming from the engine or transmission and then loss of power. The transmission was rebuilt recently. He parked the truck and now it wont start. When trying to start the engine, all it does is the starter will click, click and nothing else. There are times when you could hear the starter relay click click also. I replaced the starter and it still does the same. I jumped the battery thinking it was low in voltage, and it still does the same. I used jumper cables from the battery to the starter with the ignition turned on. All i get was a click click. What could be the problem?

My transmission went out after 144,000 miles and purchased a used transmission from this auto salvage near by. On the reciept it shows that they recommend having the transmission flushed out before actual running of the transmission on car. Do you think that should be neccessary? The one i bought had like 50,000 miles on it and was not too pricey but i don't want to have it put on and not have it done right.

Also does anyone have an idea how long it takes to change out a transmission?

I own a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am base model. It has about 145k miles. I hear a creaking sound from my front end, but it is very infrequent. It can happen when I barely turn the steering wheel, or it will happen when I turn it almost 180 degrees, or it wont happen at all. My steering is fine however. The wheel doesnt vibrate, it turns like new. It even corners just fine.

I submitted several ? about my truck and recieved some ansewers, fortunately I did not follow any of the advice I got responses for, because you all were wrong and would have cost me alot more than the $8.35 I spent to get it fixed. Mechanics being new ones or old school should not be giving out the advice they are when they do not know what they are talking about

I have a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird with about 147,000 miles, but it's not the original motor, it's been replaced with one with 47,000 mls. supposedly...anyhow, I repaired the gaps in the exhaust leak problems with new pipes etc. Repaired all vaccum leaks it had two of them. Replaced the air cleaner also, and fuel filter a couple months ago. I haven't worked in a couple years...so I only drive about 300mls. per week around town to stores, gas, etc. With 1/2 tank of gas I put in two days ago, I went 6 miles to walmart, 4 miles to vet, and I'm nearly out of gas already...needle is just reading above "E" why? and what can I do to resolve this gas consumption problem?

I'm in the market to buy a new car and every dealer I go to swears their make have an excellent history for longetivity. How do I know which ones truly are?
Are there any small car owners who have been driving their car since it was brand new and are still driving it for more than 15 years? I would love to hear from you. If the make and model are no longer being manufactured, would you provide which model replaced it, if you know?
Are the parts to repair it readily available or does it keep having to be taken to the dealership for repainrs and maintenance?

I was talking to my barber while having my hair cut when we got on to the subject of cars and i asked him what did he drive? He said he drove a Mazda MX 8 i think. I then asked him what size engine it was and was surprised to hear that it was only a 1.3 but then he explained that it was a rotary engine and thats what gave it a lot more power. So my question is what is a rotary engine and how is it different from other engines

Have a 2000 Celica GT with 140K miles. Car is in excellent shape except for oil consumption. It developed a problem around 90K miles spitting (doesn't appear top be burning) oil out the exhaust, suspect exhaust valve seals disintagrating.. Doesn't effect idling, running, or accelration one bit. It was using a quart of oil around every 500 miles, but has recently gone down to a qt every 250 miles (and has stabalized at that amount).

Question is do I trade the car in and get ripped off because of this problem, or do I keep the car and drop in a new engine? Can anyone estimate the cost of a new/rebuilt jap engine plus labor. Appreciate the help !!!
