my car starts very shakey, when accelerating in Drive it goes very slowly, the rpms barely go up passed 2000. i thought the fuel injector was messed up but idk because when i put it in a lower gear or neutral, it still has rpm troubles but they do actually go up well passed 2000. i don't know, maybe its not running on all 4 cyl. if you know or have any ideas let me know pleassse, thanks

I recently changed the air filter, and out of like 6 spring clips to refasten, I wasn't able to fasten one of them. The box is tightly sealed with the filter. All the other clips tightened fine. But one clip would not fasten. Will this cause a problem? Or is it nothing to worry about.

I have been told that I need struts on my car when I got new tires all around. (One person said that they could see them needing replacement, another mechanic I asked said you can't see something like that until the car is on the rack and apart.) There is a squeaking in the front right area. Fm reading some of these answers, there is no "bouncing" when I go over a bump. It may be springs, but I barely understand the diff btw struts/shocks. Also I am asking how will I know its the spring? I just want to get the right thing repaired. I can say that the squeaking is always present when I'm driving on a straight road, but more so when I turn a tight corner for example entering on the freeway. Car has 53,000 miles.
Thanks for your help.

I have a broken rear shock, and it is going to take at least a week before i can afford to have it replaced, how much damage can be caused if i drive with the shock broken for a week or maybe 2, no more than 10 miles a day, all slow in town driving, to work and back?

my brake light keeps coming on, especially when I go uphill, so I'm pretty sure my brake fluid is low. I'm going to check it this evening (when it's not been sitting out in the sweltering heat all day and I'm not going to have to touch a 1000 degree hood to get to it), if it's low, do I just add fluid or do I have to do other things also? (No, I'm not very mechanically inclined, obviously).
It's a 2004 PT Cruiser if that matters.

It's a Pierce built on a 1976 C-900/F-900 chassis. Ford doesn't have it and neither does anywhere else I have checked.

Simple questions, hopfully cheap and simple answer. It's 47 degree outside I turn on the heater. The two vents on the passenger side blow nice warm air. The two main vents in the center and the one on the driver's side blow cold air. This really sucks since I am the driver. Thank god the heated seats work. Any thoughts?

Hi,
The clutch has gone on my '89 Mazda 323 (old 80's model)

There's plenty of room on the flywheel side of engine and room to either lift it out or slide the tranny under the wheel arch...

But I'm stuck on how to remove the driveshafts

The manual for a Micra recommends taking off the steering ball joint, disconnecting the bolts to the bottom of the suspension strut and lowering the hub to pull the driveshafts out.

OK but trouble is firstly the ball joint is gonna be a pain to break the taper and also I'm worried about taking out the (rusty) bolts anywhere near the suspension coil spring

Does anyone know if there's an easier way?
How about just pulling the hub/brake disk off - won't that let get at the driveshaft to take it out??

The other thing is the manual said I had to do the same on the other side... WTF
If I can slide the gearbox sideways won't the other driveshaft fall out at the inboard end?

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks a lot,
Martin

Thanks.

or would I be better off with a repair manual. I looked up under general motors and looks like can't get one from them on line. Can I get one from a dealer and would it be a lot higher there? thanks for any advice.
