I have a broken rear shock, and it is going to take at least a week before i can afford to have it replaced, how much damage can be caused if i drive with the shock broken for a week or maybe 2, no more than 10 miles a day, all slow in town driving, to work and back? It is a 1993 Chevy Astro, and it is running on a cheater tire on that particular shock.
I just want to make sure I am not going to totally F#@k The van up. I really have no choice but to run it like that, I Just want to know if it is gonna do major damage.
I blew the tire, and broke the shock at the same time, so i have the cheater there, but not sure as to how bad the damage to the shock is yet, it may have ripped the bracket off of the frame.

It won't do any damage. However your van will ride really poorly and you may not enjoy it too much. The shock absorber just makes the ride smoother, as long as the spring is still intact you should be fine.

It is unsafe to drive with a broken shock. It has a definite effect on how the car handles. Depending on the type of car you have, I could be very reasonable to fix. To leave it unrepaired causes excess wear on the other suspension components.

The damage will be negligible. The ride of your vehicle will be most unpleasant, though.

You may do more damage to your back than your car.
