It could be the key or the switch cylinder. Try jiggling the key around in the switch and try turning the switch while rocking the steering wheel. Also be sure the shifter is in park and wiggle it around while turning the key>

If you are positive that its the right key then look at the key, is it worn out, this does happen. you could try to have another one made and see if it works or you will have to replace the switch/tumbler. Also, just for grins, make sure its in park completely and the sterring wheel lock isnt holding it up, try moving the steering wheel a little as your turn the key

with little to work with. it sound like you key wont turn to start you car..if this is the case wiggle the steering wheel while turning key the wheel lock may be the problem. you can also [ if first answer doesn't work] try moving gear shift in and out of park it maybe making contact and the linkage may need adjustment. also try putting gear shift lever in neutral and try
staring, if this works the gear linkage needs adjustment maybe just a few turns..
good luck

Make certain it's the correct key, that the shift position is in N or P and the steering wheel is not binding it - you can wiggle the steering wheel while trying to turn the key.
If none of this works, it's mechanic time.

Steering wheel is holding the key tumbler from turning.
Like the other person said, turn the steering wheel hard left and right while turning the key.
It happens ALL the time.

It sounds like the starter is out. If the key goes into the ignition and the engine isn't turning over then you have a problem with your starter. Good luck.

do away with the decrease and top plastic covers and drill the headless bolts out that carry it in place which will do away with the full turn on it and that's what you,ll could replace the full difficulty,on a toyota you cant purely replace the main and tumblers, good success.
