my car is going to spontaneously combust.
I have nothing to back this up, my car is old and noisy, but reliable and recently MOTed, I think it's more about my having to drive 2 hours every day and I hate driving, but please could you give me some cold hard facts about how unlikely this is, as it does occupy my thoughts a lot!
Thankyou

The Kragen ad says "Wheel Bearing: Front Wheel; Sealed; 2 Per Vehicle" Does that mean it comes with two, or I need to buy two? The front passenger bearings are making a lot of noise, but they're saying I should replace both while I'm at it.

The tire is fairly old and the tread is pretty worn but there seems to be enough tread for a few more months. My real concern is that the tire appears to go concave toward the middle of the tire. Is this a sign of internal seperation or something else?

k so i jsut replaced my car battery, and the cd player wont work it says i need to put in the code, so i did but i typed it in wrong 3 times and thats when it locks up (01 eclipse)...so i heard that in order to get another 3 chances i need to leave the car key in the "Accessory" position, then leave the radio on
about 45-60 minutes. So will leaving the car in "Accessory" postion for 45-60 minutes make the battery die?

I have a 78 camaro that I am freshening the interior up in, the plastic panel on the dash that houses the heater controls and the ash tray was cracked, so I replaced it, I didnt have much trouble but the two screws that hold the panel to the dash that screw in above the heater controls stripped out the holes they go into, I made sure that the screws that came out went back in the same spot so I must have over tightened them, they were plastic holes so it was easy to do, what part of the dash do those screws go into? am I going to have to replace that or can I repair the screw holes? Any help would be much appreciated.

I'd rather not tell you who the last person was to change the oil in my car was (me), but this weekend my oil plug fell out while cruising at a good pace and i didn't realize what happened until i got off the highway.
I plugged it, filled it (98 civic dx, 140k miles) with high mileage oil to try to get the benefit of the additives to help the seals and rings. I have no tach, but at a certain RPM (about 27MPH in 2nd gear, above 65 in 5th), I hear a pinging or knocking noise. if I stay under that point and shift early, it sounds normal and idles normal. I've also noticed the pinging/knocking only sounds when i am on the throttle, like if I downshift and the RPMs are at the same point as when I accelerate and hear the noise, I do not hear it when the engine's naturally winding down.
My last observation is my breaks feel stiffer, as if the vacuum for the power breaks doesn't have as much of a pull. (loss of compression?)

Other than the simple fact that your car won't start... are there any guidelines on replacing the battery? My car seems fine, it's sometimes a little bit slow in starting, but never have I had to try to start it more than once... and my dad checked my oil for me the other day and said, have you ever gotten a new battery? and i was like, um i dont know. I am a woman, and I do take care of my car (regular oil changes, maintenance, and tire rotations/new tires) but I don't know about the battery! I thought the maintenance guys check those things out, but I guess not. I think it was maybe changed when I got in an accident in october 2004, but my dad said it still said Honda battery like from the factory... Well anyways to get to the point (sorry i like to talk) I have 120 thousand miles on the car... is it time for a new battery? Thanks

Why does it take 7 business days for the auto body shop to fix my car? All for a dent in the hood and bumper. All they had to do was replace the hood and plastic front bumper. Paint the hood, re-assemble and Detail. It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. Why should this take so long? They should be able to do it in as little as 3 days if they actually wanted to work and get off their lazy butts. This is Los Angeles, why can't the workers hustle more out here? This is an outrage.

My friend volunteered to change the oil, but he had also changed the transmission fluid. I noticed that when the car came to a stop that the car would start shaking and then it wouldn't accelaerate even though the RPM's would go. I would have to shut off the car and restart it for it to move. I also noticed that the oil level on the 1987 Nissan Maxima was low and when it would come to a stop, the oil level would go down further, but when I did get teh car to accelearte it would move back up. I initially thought it might have been that he either put the wrong type of motor oil or did not put enough motor oil. Is there a car expert who can tell me what this might be?

OK heres the story, I have a 97 ford explorer 4dr with the 5.0 v8 w/ aprox. 88000 miles. Last friday before going to school it wouldn't start. At first i thought is was the security system b/c if you unlock the car then about 20 secs later is locks automatically and you can't start the car. So i got out and locked it and tried again but it still wouldn't work so i tried it one more time and the car started. It worked fine over the weekend because I used it to get gas and go to the gym. Over the weekend I put the alarm in valet (which is pretty much just shutting it off). This morning it did the same thing, and it won't start. I even tried again when i got home from school. The car doesn't even attempt to turn over i just turn the key and nothing happens! I think it may be the battery but the battery gauge still shows a little less than 1/4. The lights on the dash still go on and so do the lights in the back. No i didn't leave my lights on and run out the battery. Someone please help

Yesterday I took the car out, went into the store, came out and the car wouldn't start. (No, no lights were left on, I checked.) Nothing happened at all, some lights came on inside and then dimmed right away. I tried to get a jump and couldn't, and it seemed to be because of the corrosion on the battery. I got some help cleaning it off and connected the battery again. This time it took the jump and I was able to drive it home, letting it run for a bit before shutting it off. This morning I go out to start it up, same thing happens-- dashboard lights light up, starter clicks a bit, but nothing else happens.

Is this just a dead battery (I think it is about 5 years old and was pretty corroded before it got cleaned off), or could it be a problem with the alternator, and how can I tell? I'll be taking it somewhere to have it looked at eventually, but since I'll need a jump start to get it there, I can't really go anywhere yet so I'm trying to get an idea of what I should expect.
