Is it safe to turn on & off your engine with the air-condition on?

Safe? For the engine, yes, for you, NO! Always shut your a/c off a few minutes before the car, and run the fan. It will clear the moisture out from the ducts. Failure to do so causes mold to grow, which causes that moist musty smell, and can cause sickness in some cases. You can then shut the car off, and turn the a/c switch on if you feel the need to have it come on right away the next time you start the car. It used to be bad to start the car with the a/c engaged, but modern units have smaller compressors with a lot less drag than the older cars.

Should not be a problem The A/C and other loads turn off automatically when the starter is energized. And turn back on when the key is turned back to run. What the heck kind of Car year make model and miles also help us answer

i have always been told as a rule you should turn off the ac before you switch the car off.this helps by not putting a lot of strain on your ac comp.when starting the engine.also turn the key on when cranking until it quits dingging so the computer can run a quick check of the electrical system before you start the engine it only take like three seconds to run its check

Perfectly safe. You can leave the A/C and the radio on at all times. It goes off when you start the vehicle anyway, and won't hurt a thing. Just don't leave the head lights on unless you want a dead battery.

yes but it would be easier for your car if you would just turn it off.
the A/C creates a "load" on the car - ie if you were walking in the sun at 5mph then you all of a sudden got a 20lb backpack attached to you and you still must travel at 5mph, now it is more difficult but can still be done, it will also take more energy or gas.
