Why does it take 7 business days for the auto body shop to fix my car? All for a dent in the hood and bumper. All they had to do was replace the hood and plastic front bumper. Paint the hood, re-assemble and Detail. It's as easy as 1 - 2 - 3. Why should this take so long? They should be able to do it in as little as 3 days if they actually wanted to work and get off their lazy butts. This is Los Angeles, why can't the workers hustle more out here? This is an outrage.

To answer you questions. They said the car would be in the shop for 7 business days when I dropped it off. They only called me for major stuff that would hold up the repair. Like getting the insurance company to agree to using OEM PARTS ONLY. And for the ins. comp. to pay for the full cost of everything using OEM.
LOL all you have to do is threaten to make a lawsuit and they change their tone immediately!

They said seven days, and for sure it will be done in 7 days because I called them for an update.

There also could have been some hidden damage under the bumper, or the car before yours in the bay took a day longer, the technician assigned to your repair may have needed a sick day or had a family emergency, so your repair may have gotten started a bit later than originally expected. I used to manage a collision repair facility and the number 1 compliant that all the shops discussed was that customers didn't think they got their car back soon enough. There's only so fast you can go before quality of repair suffers. How long did they tell you that theyd have the car for when you dropped it off ?Did they keep you up to date during repairs ?? I hope they did

I agree that they probably could do it in less than 7 days...if you were their only customer. They have other cars to fix besides yours and also when doing paint/body work there are various drying/curing times required between steps. They probably didn't even get the new hood and bumper until a day or two after you took it in. Good body work is never done quickly.

Unless you were in the shop the entire time your car was in the shop or you were attached to the hip of the guy that was looking after the repairs for your car you don't know the whole story!!
Did you ask if it was your insurance company that was holding up the process?
Did you ask if parts were readily available for your car?
Did you ask any questions at all??
1--Like someone already said if it is soo easy DO IT YOURSELF! ( or does pretty boy not get his hands dirty?)
2--If you were a customer of mine and threatened law suit I would push your piece of s#*t out of the shop and tell you to get it fixed somewhere else!!
3--The guys in the repair shop probably put in more hours into a week than you do!( most body shop personnel take pride in there work, so don't rush it)
I could just imagine what would happen if it was not just right when when you picked up your HYUNDAI PONY!!
BOO HOOO !! Life is so unfair for Pretty boy!!
Lets all feel badly for you!
LETS NOT FORGET THAT HE IS NOT PAYING FOR ANY OF THIS!!! INSURANCE IS !!!!!!

You have to allow for time to get the replacement parts, and to repair the damage. Drying time and repair time, and how busy the shop is. This all takes time, but you are right, 7 days is excessive unless they have a good reason. Ask them?

i thought the same thing when someone backed into my car. just a small dent. it took over a week but the end result made it worth it. they did an excellant job-would never know it was in an accident-paint matched perfectly. i guess there is alot more involved in body work. this was in Pa. It took almost a month for my daughter's car.

SOMETIMES IT JUST TAKES A LITTLE LONGER THAN SOME PEOPLE EXPECT.
CALLING YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY TO GET AN OKAY ON PARTS SOMETIMES TAKES A DAY OR SO FOR THE INSURANCE COMPANY TO GET BACK TO THEM.
AND FINALLY THIS SHOP SOUNDS LIKE A QUALITY SHOP THAT DOES QUALITY WORK.
SO 7 BUSINESS DAYS DOES NOT SOUND UNREASONABLE AT ALL.

1 day to tear it down. 1 day to get the parts. 1 day to fit the parts. 1 day to prime the parts. 1 day to paint/finish. And you always schedule extra in case the parts take longer.

They have other customers as well, and the time it takes to prep the work properly, clean, sand, primer, dry, reassembly, etc. Takes multiple days.
Relax. Geesh. I don't know what business you are in, but do your customers hound you to death?
