could you tell me the diffrent things it could be and what diffrent things each thing would do so maybe i can rule a couple out.
im a female and i hate taking my car places to be looked at without somewhat of an idea of whats wrong i get screwed around a lot and theyw ill try to take advantage and get more money out of me.
by the way my car is a 92 dodge shadow pretty beat up car but runs good. i have small kids thats why im worried about the noises its making also when i come to stop when i push the breaks theres a clunky pop noise over and over til the car stops.

this is sort of related to another question about overheating. However, I had my radiator checked. They found no problems at all! But it keeps bubbling and spewing smoke. No, I recently got an oil leak fixed and had built up oil on my engine but now that has been cleaned up. Could that old oil have caused some of the problem??? I mean I just drove it to the store and back without it bubbling. Maybe this is just wishful thinking. I am tired of spending tons of money on my monster.

1996 Toyota Camry LE I4... not that it makes a difference i don't think.

When im driving down the road... i keep hearing these loud, extremely annoying whistling-kinda noises...

It sounds, to me atleast, like the noise is coming from the right rear of the car.... my first thought was that either it was a brake pad or something was grinding something like an axle part or something in the wheel/axle department...

I dont think its a brake pad or anything, because first of all... i just got mine replaced less then a year ago... secondly, it squeaked while i was driving.. not braking.

I dont think its something directly related to the spinning of the wheels either, because whether im going... 65 on the highway, or 30 down a street... the squeaking doesnt happen louder, faster, or necessarily more often...

im at a lose, any1 got any ideas? i got the day off tomorrow so toss some ideas at me and what i should do.

something is wrong with my fuel pump pushrod in the camshaft. I took out the fuel line to the carb and no fuel was coming in. This was the case with the new and old fuel pump. The lobe was not moving when I tried to start it so I assume and also had a mechanic tell me its the fuel pump pushrod. Im assuming, its a heavy job.

Most people are telling me to throw a electric fuel pump with a fuel line running straight to the carb. When I drop some fuel in the carb, it starts right up.

If I don't put a electric fuel pump on there, is fixing the above problem a heavy job? And if I want to fix it, who has the parts?

I get a P1870 (tranny slippage) and nothing seems wrong. The tranny shifts fine and the car has 214K miles. I'm tired of looking at the CES light. Sometimes it goes away by itself but it always comes back. How do I clear it from the inside of the car? If I pull the battery cable it screws up the radio.

My friend asked me a question today and I thought maybe someone on her could help her. She was backing out of her driveway this morning and bumped into a truck that was parked along the road. Nothing happened to her car, but a dent was noticed in the truck she bumped into. She said she didnt know if the dent was already there since nothing happened to her car. She also did not stop and tell her neighbor bc he is a truckdriver and is only home on weekends, but his wife is home every nite. Also she doesnt want her parents to be mad bc she is under their insurance and they are not very understanding. Would you not say anything? or deal with her horrible parents? Any advice for her would be greatly appreciated!

Everytime I turn on my radio in my Toyota Sequoia, the antenna starts rumbling and making a lot of noise. It goes on for like 10 seconds. Whether I turn off the radio or on, the antenna starts up again. And it's not a very pleasant noise! I was wondering, is it just the antenna or is the motor the problem?

I have a GMC Sonoma truck with a 2.8 liter engine. I removed the Throttle Body Injection unit to right down the part numbers to order a rebuilt unit. I had to plug the inlet and the fuel return line to stop the flow of gas from them. The truck has not been driven for several months. Is this normal? I thought it only had pressure when the key was in the on position. If this is not normal what could cause it. I have a new fuel pump in the tank. If I had not plugged the line I feel sure that all the fuel in the tank would have flowed out.

I was driving on the interstate and my car started slowing down. I pulled over and smoked started coming out of the hood and I heard a clicking noise on the right side. I later noticed that I was out of antifreeze. Someone said that my head gasket probably blew out. Do you think it's the head gasket or the motor?

So without going into a whole lot of detail because I don't feel like typing it all or going into the full story.....I broke the sideview mirror and base on a cops car..pretty sure it's a crown vic..the mirror cracked I think, and the base didn't fall off or anything..it's just pushed inward and can't be put back the way it was..
Well he told my husband that it costs $1500.00 to be replaced..This just doesn't sound right..

I have a '98 Chevy Lumina and just in the past week or so I've been noticing that the temperature gauge rises and falls the whole time I'm driving. When it rises, it doesn't go into the "red" range; that is up to 260, which is the highest number on the gauge, but it does lean farther to the right (higher) than I thought would be normal. It'll do this for a few minutes and then go back down to the middle for a few minutes. It does this over and over. I know there's a cooling fan under the hood that keeps the car from overheating--is that what's going on? Also, last week when I drove over some big hills going to a friend's house (we live in mountainous central NH), I could smell burning oil. I haven't really smelled it since. Is it time to take the car in for a checkup, or is this normal? The car has over 235,000 miles on it. The "service engine soon" light has been on ever since we purchased it from another individual about 18 months ago. Suggestions? Thx.

Is it normal for a car repair shop to ask a customer to drop off a car to get an estimate of repairs? They told me once I drop it off, they will call me at that same day for an estimate. I'm kind of worried about that. Please help. My car needs some engine work done.
