less than a week after we had the timing belt replaced, the ac belt kept shredding. after much inspection, our (a different one than who replaced the timing belt) mechanic found one of the pulleys to be slightly off... could that have happened in the replacement of the timing belt?

The timing belt has gone on my parents car (apparently) and they would like me to attempt to fix it so my brother can use it (he has the mechanical knowledge of a dead goat). Where can I find the timing details/settings so that I can get it running again and sell it to him for an extortionate amount? If I fix it, I sell it and keep the cash, if I can't fix it I sell it in bits and keep the cash. Win win situation really, but I want a go at fixing it. Crap car, I know, but it'll be fun...

I have a 97 honda civic, which is only driven around town-- and not even very heavily. We just found out that, for the second time in just over a year, our front axle boot has cracked and now the whole axle needs replacing. I understand that it is not normal that we should be replacing axles on an annual basis... what could be causing the boot to keep cracking, and is there a way we can catch it before the whole axle needs replacing AGAIN?
We live in Cleveland, and moved here two years ago... the roads here are seriously the worst I have ever seen. Could it just be that the shelf life of one boot is one year of Cleveland roads?

i have a nissan 240sx, it is running hot. the problem progressed. it ran hot once just idling in a parkinglot. than maybe a month down the road it would over heat and then run fine, and over heat later. and now it overheats immediately. i havent seen any oil in the water or water in the oil i have replaced the thermostat, no fix. and i strait wired the fan to the battery. and it helped but not much. do you think this is a cracked head or maybe a water pump or clogged radiator? or what. my brother says cracked head. and it was vapor locking, so i would pour water over the throtle body on it, and then it would crank for me. so it is posible i cracked the head maybe. but it runs like it has been, just hot. it has an aluminum intakeand throttle body. so.... any suggestions?

My s10 with a 2.5 is knocking and I believe its just a wrist pin knock but it could possible be a bearing knock, the thing is when you hit the gas pedal it almost goes away and you really only hear it when the engine is at idle.

What can I use to clean the car dashboard without using certain chemicals that will damage the dashboard material either on the short term or long term damage. Windex, won't that damage the vinyl dash? Or is the dash even made of vinyl anymore for most new cars these days?

I have a 1991 Chevy Corsica 3.1L V6. 186,000 on odometer. exactly a week ago, a tacking sound started and is coming from the head. Either i think it's a valve lifter problem, a spring in the valve lifter, or a rocker arm may have loosened up. I don't think this car was run before i got it for a little while...what could be wrong based on the information i gave you and your experience?

I have the worst luck. I finally got a new car and today I was driving and my a/c stopped working and I kept hearing this noise. I was driving through down town Fort Worth, so I thought maybe it was just the noise around me (they were doing construction), but I got home and the noise is worse, (it was my car). When the a/c stopped working I smelt a burning smell. Could it be a belt? The belts don't look like they are running right. I'm afraid to go to a mechanic and get a diagnosis because I always get ripped off and I want to have an idea of what it could be. Thanks for taking the time to read this, and any advice is highly appreciated. :)

I have this 04 sentra 1.8s So far I've put regular oil when needed but the most recent one was a mobil 1 10-30 I really don't know the differences between those numbers (5-20 or 10-30). I know they have something to do with the temperature and the 'thickness' of the oil but might still need some more info.
I've seen the 15-50 one aka the extended performance which may go up to 15k miles. I really do like that idea of that high mileage since I'm approximately driving 100 miles/day in the city of Boston. But I'm not sure if that one would cause any sort of problems. Any help is appreciated. Thank you...
