I get a P1870 (tranny slippage) and nothing seems wrong. The tranny shifts fine and the car has 214K miles. I'm tired of looking at the CES light. Sometimes it goes away by itself but it always comes back. How do I clear it from the inside of the car? If I pull the battery cable it screws up the radio.

you may not realize it ,but there may actually be a small problem with the transmission, that will make the code come back even if it is cleared off ,you can take it by any auto zone or advance auto ,and they can clear the code off,but if the computer detects a problem with it,it will re-set the light to come on again, you can try and have them remove it,it might stay off,if not have it checked, good luck on it.

the only way you be able to reset the light on your 96 corsica is to get a OB II scanner with reset : your local parts store should have these on stock if not a sears store in the tool section/ automotive but this problem that you have with this code more than likely the light will not stay off too long try getting a transmission flush and filter change then rest the light it may help because you can't always fill the slippage but it dose not means it 's not happening 7 times out 10 the sensor is right if this dose not fix it go to a transmission shop and let them test it out

to clear a code you have to pull the neg battery cable unless you take it to a shop that has an OBD scaner

Well the code is going to keep coming back if it sees it. You may not realize it either. Take it to Autozone, they can clear it but its going to come back
